It's tough between the American and the PAL one but I voted for the later only because I prefer Crash's pose on that one as much as I'm not the biggest fan of the background.

Indeed, I like the background in the US version, as it better conveys Cortex's dominion over time, but at the same time, I find the PAL boxart's pose and general aesthetic to more dynamic and exciting.

While the PAL boxart involves Crash using his wumpa gun, the overall look of the NTSC-U box art gets my point.

I believe the image for the American art is broken.

Voted for the PAL box art. The surrounding fire looks more intense in that cool looking dark purple sky.

I voted for the PAL one as well. I don't like the atmosphere in the NTSC-U box art and especially that Rayman 3 themed font.

The NTSC one looks poorly pasted together, in my opinion.

I vote the NTSC-U covers. The cover art where Rayman waves over his hand in the Rayman revolution NSTC-U box cover makes him look like a real Bad-Ass.

I see we have a new poll. I'm going for NTSC, though in honesty, in a rather fitting way, I feel both box-arts are rather bland and uninspired. The NTSC version is just redone art from the NTSC Rayman 3, and the PAL version is just Ray3 striking some stock pose. The most amusing thing really is that they went for the wrong version of Rayman.

I do got to admit though, this PAL box cover art version of Rayman 3 beats the NTSC-U by a long shot. This one is more diverting than the other. The NTSC-U's box cover arts are really not that fresh and some are lazy. But I still do like RR's NSTC-U box cover art.

That's not what's been polled, though. I'm strictly discussing the two Rayman DS covers that the OP shows. If we're comparing them over box-art from the rest of the series, they're pretty mediocre.

I took a closer look at the NTSC Rayman DS box, is the background image just some ingame foliage textures mixed with some sky?

I just want to know why the Rayman 3 model of Rayman was used in both covers for a Rayman 2 port.

I took a look at the textures in the NSTC-U box cover art version of Rayman DS. Is it me or the plants and trees at the sides have textures that were used in Rayman 2?
Maybe the Rayman 3 models were used in both of the box covers just for the sake of them being platforming games or maybe they are DS games so they require less job efforts.

Marketing team doesn't know and doesn't feel they need to know the particulars of what's actually on the cartridge. So they just use the freshest (trendiest as far as they're concerned) material. It's as simple as that.
