Counter Strike was well realized, but it gained quickly in popularity because it broke with the Fast FPS style, which was the norm back then. In Fast FPSs, you would have a tremendous amount of HP, you would spawn with a base weapon and collect new ones in the map, and you would indeed move very quickly.

Now tell me some good old-school multiplayer Fast FPS!
