If only supered, yes. But I can say cans are also copies of transformation idea, don't you think?

Cans were ideas of hoodlums, however more temporary transformations can became sign of franchise. Golden lum for Superayman, small old building for Fastized Rayman, etc.

yeah, but it's too much of a direct copy to just go from rayman to super rayman. a tranformation with super at the beginning shows lack or originality and effort to think.

O.K.. It is bad name. More ideas for transformations?

Hey it worked for Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2. XD

IT IS HUGE! But you drive around in a car most times.

You know, main problem with one big free-roaming world is in most of cases games with it haven't got many "how-to-get-to-place-I-see" puzzles, instead of it they have puzzles "what-the-hell-where-is-the-place-I-want-go-to-those-buildings-and-or-trees-make-me-annoyed". And "I-have-no-more-gasoline-in-car-what-is-the-shortest-way". No. FR is very good for hubs (I don't say there should be only one, optimal is about nine, connected by normal levels or another hub, the second case if there are some dangerous things in them and it) and a small number of exploration levels, but most of stages should be linear in my opinion (but can be multithreaded, of course).

Now you understand? Drivin' cars isn't good main element of platformer. Good main elements of platformer are jumpin', duckin', runnin' and countin' time in case of e.g. movin' walls. Vehicles? O.K.! But they should be an addition.

Also, makin' whole game one free-roamin' area cause very annoying thing. Game's world is very monotonous or look very strange. In another words, independing on the time of developers and storage medium size, it can't be bigger than a medium island (of course, if game contain some gameplay. not only travellin' through world and lookin' on trees). If it will be without portals/halls of doors/airports, but it will not cover full terrain of world, it can be big as Sicily. With a kind of trick I know (it is hard to translate) it can cover full terrain of something big as Sicily.

Of course, things in paragraph above are on platformers.

*ignores the above post* have you ever played the jak games? jak 2 and 3 have a clever little thing where it loads between big hydraulic doors and crerates the illusion of one big world. and in jak and daxter, it basically is just one conected world with no loading whatsoever (but in that one, the graphics are poor)

I don't mind no-loading. I mind situation where you can go for any direction from 99,9% points in the game. And sorry, I don't know any Jak or Daxter game, because, if I remember correctly, those are for PlayStations.

I said that as an alternative because people keep saying Free-Roaming.

I only think there should be a free-roaming hub and a KIND OF free-roaming level though you know where you're supposed to go.

Platformers are fine with free-roaming hubs, though the idea of the entire game being open didn't work well in Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2. I found it awfully annoying to navigate around. Platformer levels are supposed to pretty linear by nature as well. As for vehicles, I'd hate to see them in the game. It's unoriginal and unsuitable for a Rayman game especially, unless something actually original and different like the walking shells or Kart.

Michel Ancel said the whole game of Rayman 4 was free-roaming so I mentioned that in there.

Until a few months ago, I didn't realize how un-Rayman the world of Rayman 4 was, it needed to look less realistic, more cartoony, and have swirls everywhere.

That's the Rayman style, in fact, Michel Ancel said himself that when he was working on Rayman 2, he forgot about the cartoon aspects that made people love Rayman and advised doing that for Rayman 3.

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 1 was the best really, the hub was cool and not to big, that's why I don't enjoy Rayman Revolution much, the hubs are too big to navigate.

Ty 2 you had his whole city, and you go through these annoying doors that you wait for if you want to go to a new area. After that you go inside a car onto the road and try to find in this huge desert area where you're supposed to go.

Too big? Yeah, more like too small. I would LOVE a HUGE free-roaming game, with almost unlimited freedom. Some linear leves, but mostly free-roaming. The hub in Revolution is good, but it coul be WAY better. I would like a Rayman game with a hub, even bigger than in GTA: San Andreas.
And i don't think the original R4 world looks bad. It looks like what it's supposed to be: Another world. A little touch of realism, but with unique and fantastic landscapes.

I don't think I've really ever seen a totally free-roaming platformer--it just doesn't work like that. In a platformer level, you are supposed to follow the trail the level designer created for you. Multiple paths are possible, though another free-roaming platformer like Ty 2 or a completely free-roaming world like you're talking about, it'd just be a mess of a game.

Agreed.

Well, gettin' back to R4 without Ray... or co-op...

What playable characters can be?

Currently, I saw:
Ly
Clark
Globox
Rayman :mryellow:
Who else? Joe?!

I think we should just make the game ourselves. A prototype or something. Then send it to Ubisoft, telling them that's what they should've done.

You're supposed to write something under a quote.
