I must agree with your statement, they really did ruin the art-style of the original in the remake. I can't really give a definite opinion as I haven't played the Wii U version of the game, but judging from the screenshots, it was a horrible idea to remove the cel-shading and the bloom is overused. I guess the bloom adds a more dynamic look at times, but at others it looks unnecessary. But again what can you expect from a remake that was put together in around six months with the sole purpose being for the developers to see what a Zelda game could be like on Wii U.

I don't mind how the HD version looks, for what is basically a six month crash test, it could have been a whole lot worse, especially since adding bloom to a toon style game just doesn't inherently work as well as with a realistic game and takes a bit more to get it to look right. And while they did remove the cel shading, this kind of makes the characters look like clay, which isn't actually a bad thing to me, it's just as charming as the cel-shading. In fact, Toon Link looks like that in Smash Wii U too, so I think they probably are trying to see how Toon Link looks in slightly different styles. For all we know, the new main Zelda title will actually be cartoony, as opposed to the common assumption that it's going to be realistic. Especially since Hyrule Warriors has a more realistic art style and darker tone anyway. Also, for what it's worth, the game looks a lot better in motion. I do think that it could have been a lot better, but this is more like a HD remaster than an overhaul. As far as remasters go though, it's certainly one of the better ones. Most HD remasters just bring up the game's native resolution, maybe slap on a few better textures in some places, and call it a day, but Wind Waker HD does that, and a whole lot more in general. I certainly don't think it was a lazy cash grab, more like a genuine experiment (it's graphical imperfections kinda show that) that they decided they might as well publish since Wind Waker has always been a bit underrated. I'm really happy they brought it out since it's helped Wind Waker gain a bit of a bigger following, and they actually paid attention to some of the criticisms of the original game and rectified them, which helped bring in that bigger following.

Wind Waker is just my favourite Zelda in general, and I prefer the HD version for all of the refinements it made to the mechanics of the game, and how it sped up a lot of processes that were normally longer and tedious in the original, right down to the little animation for when your hook shot latches onto something. I also think it has one of the best uses of Miiverse integration on the Wii U so far. And the selfie feature is just hilarious. :P

I will admit though - it didn't deserve to be sold as a new, full price Wii U title.

Wouldn't that be a hoot and a holler! however, it could also be a relative to link like a child to one of the Link and Zelda pairs. The only reason I'm not going to assume it's Zelda is because the last time I thought a role was being redesigned I thought that Yuga was a female Ganondorf...

I think for me the best memories I have from LOZ come from the GB games, so Awakening, Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons. Loved those games and now that my sister's Switch family membership plan lets me play GB games, I look forward to playing them again when I have time.

I've played a few 3D Zelda games but I've never actually finished any of them (my friends were shocked when I told them I didn't finish Ocarina of Time). I don't know if I could stomach finishing Majora's Mask in particular, that kind of scarred me as a kid when I played and just kept getting the apocalypse since I had no idea I was supposed to get the Moon's Tear from outside the observatory and then bring it to the deku scrub in town.

Forgot to say bump again Joe?

My first Zelda game was Skyward Sword for the Wii. I sucked at the motion controls but played the game a lot and loved it 8) At the moment I’m more relaxed just playing a few of the handheld games that made it to switch

Hahaha I never finished Twilight Princess either. I think I was at Lake Hylia's temple when I stopped playing (because I had to return it I think, I was renting the game).

Well that's ok, because that's how many Zelda games I've finished too. And they were all GB games. :)

Oh that was hard for me the first times I played it because I was just a kid and I didn't mind reading the text, then I discovered how important is reading in order to play certain games
The reason why I never managed to finish TP was because I never had a lot of time to play it and once I finally had some time I completely forgot the controls and at what part of the game I arrived to, so I had to reset my save and it happened 3 times.. :(

I don't even have the console with my Twilight Princess save anymore so I'd have to start from scratch regardless. :oops2:

Close, it's actually Link's Awakening and the 2 oracle games. Minish Cap is a GBA game iirc.
