There was rayman-world.com or something of that sort.

I still say that, overall, the Rayman fandom is a TINY BIT more sane than the Sonic fandom.

And we can probably attribute the actual games' level of openness to that. We don't have, let's say, a Rayman game along the lines of Sonic Adventure to look to.

And then when Sega introduces characters like.. hmm.. Silver.

"I HAD A SILVER HEDGEHOG NAMED SILVER THEY'RE RIPPING MY STUFF"

Or Blaze..

"I HAD A CHARACTER NAMED BLAZE, THEY'RE RIPPING MY STUFF"

Or Shade..

"I HAD A HEDGEHOG NAMED SHADE COUPLED WITH SHADOW. THEY'RE RIPPING MY STUFF."

Or from your own stuff, Raygirl...

"THERE'S NO WAY BLAZE AND BIG WOULD BE TOGETHER!"

Meanwhile, you can draw Rayman x Ly, Rayman x Your Own Raygirl, Rayman x Betilla even,

And no one can really say anything in argument without sounding selfish or just plain full of themselves.

Totally true

I've yet to run into a completely insane Rayman fangirl who wasn't willing to accept any Raygirl or female character for Rayman/other characters except their own. Yes there's been some strange Rayfans, but most of them are just kids or don't quite understand english so their words come across a little garbled and confused.

Yeah, I'm not going to throw around names, but yeah, this fandom has it's share of weirder people. :P

However, the Sonic universe is chucked right up full of them, I think. :| Doesn't help that if I try to draw anything remotely Sonic-like, I will find at least 20 people that will complain.

Give me a break, I haven't played and liked a single 3D Sonic game in my life so far. :pfff: lol

Not to mention the HUNDREDS of Sonic 'fans' who steal art from other artists. In all my time as a Rayman fan I've only found a handful of people who've posted up Rayman art that isn't theirs.

Don't remind me of that little turd from Flickr me, Luckster and Spanex had to deal with.

The way I see it, the Rayman fandom isn't quite like the Sonic fandom yet but it's catching up.

Urgh

Which is why fans like us who have been doing it long enough to spot a potential thief/idiot at 20 paces have to keep the fandom safe in any way we can

I'm glad to say I've never had my rayman fanart stolen *touch wood*

So far, I've had my sprites stolen and recolored, but it was all dealt with a kindly-written PM.

Sometimes it is just a case of kindly pointing out the mistake rather than going all out

Stacey's example was a lot worse though and needed to be seriously delt with. but most of the time they're just kids who don't know better and think it's an easy way to make art

Not just kids, but kids that don't speak English. And Yes Raye, your art has been stolen, mostly in Youtube slideshows. Most never respond solely because they pull the "can't speak English" card. This Flickr one was pulling the "I just wanna bring my friends to DA" card and I have a screen right here:

Heck me too. I remember tracing pictures of Rayman and adding features to make them my own characters

The only difference i did this as practice, I wouldn't have considered posting them as my own work >_< Mainly because they were horrible

Well that's true, but I don't really count those because it's just for a slideshow. Even the ones that have 'I H8 THIS PIC' are just a bunch of stupid kids anyway, not exactly a bad reflection on my art and more on them as little bratlings who's slideshows will never make them popular on Youtube

I'm talking more about people who steal and recolour, or post them up as is and try to claim credit, which thankfully has never happened to me.

now if someone stole Hear Me colour...THEN I'd be pissed

Personally I really hate that shit because they don't even credit or anything, and it's because of people like them I hardly post on DA anymore. That, and people who make bootleg shit from my art and try to sell them, or get tattoos. Guess I'm royally fucked now.

Again, my art isn't good enough for people to have done that ^_^ I suppose in some backwards way it could be considered a good reflection on your work that people like it enough to have permanently engrained on their bodies. *shudder* But i can see how that would be annoying because it's not like you can ask them to put a little (c) on their bodies too

I'm really tempted to just give up rip-hunting for my art in general but I'm not standing on people making real money from them on either side. The Duckula tattoo was just bizarre.

It's happened before when someone made a badge out of one of my non-Rayman pics and someone bought it before I should report it to eBay. Thankfully the ones I've dealt with have complied to my demands to remove them politely but I dread the day I get a rude one.

Does anyone know if there's anything of interest on this page? I can't access it, as I don't have Macromedia Flash or something.

No, the Web Archive couldn't access it, as it doesn't have Macromedia Flash or something. Ergo, no-one can access it. :(
