Re: Unlocking 2D Nightmare [R3 SAVE FILES WANTED!]

Hoodlums' Revenge can't be the answer, it came out after R3.
Is that not too easy? And there is no secret passage.Newray wrote:
Official method, MOST LIKELY if not proven false:
1: Finish Rayman 3 on GameCube and unlock all minigames.
2: Finish Rayman 3 on GBA with all 1000 Lums.
3: Connect both Rayman 3 games, unlock 2D Madness and all 10 GBA bonus levels.
4: Finish all 10 GBA bonus levels.
5: Finish all GameCube minigames. INCLUDING 2D Madness, Mad Trax, and Wheelis.
6: If needed, connect both Rayman 3 games again. Unlock 2D Nightmare!
I dont think so. That was... hm.. too easy? And still there is no secret passage.Newray wrote:Less likely, strange, but plausible:
1: Connect two GBA's, both with Rayman 3, to one GameCube with Rayman 3.
2: Unlock 2D Madness and 2D Nightmare!
1. That posible, but... WHERE?Newray wrote:Plausible, but nothing's sure:
1: Search 2D madness for any possible secret passage.
2: Try to hack the game files and look into the maps for clues/secrets.
3: Ask the Ubisoft developers what the **** is going on with this minigame.

Most are easy, yes. Actually, I've done most of those myself. Except for finishing Mad Trax and Wheelis, because I don't have 2 GBA connection cables. Truth to be told however, this was the original method of unlocking GC/GBA goodies described by Ubisoft in 2003, and chances are high that 2D Nightmare is related to this same method as well (until proven otherwise!). And nobody has given proof of doing all of this yet. So if you want to discover 2D Nightmare, I would definitely start looking at the official method first!da1 wrote:Is that not too easy? I don't think that method is right either, only plausible. But if it's too easy, go ahead and try it if you have 2 GBA's with 2 R3 GBA's (or on flash carts, of course). Try before deny! Either way, Drol may soon be able to try this, and perhaps some other methods, by using emulators. Problem is that I don't know how to dump savefiles from a GC memory card, he's playing the game in Dolphin..da1 wrote:I dont think so. That was... hm.. too easy? And still there is no secret passage.
Whether this is the same guy or not, I have no idea. Then the Raymanzone forums were nuked, all posts disappeared, I didn't save anything as I didn't count on official Ubisoft forums being deleted.Amazon review wrote:GameCube:
2 unlockable mini-games. 2D Madness, 2D Madness 2. How to get here? Load your game. Then highlight Bonus and press A. Go to minigames! 2 GBA/GC link games, Mad Trax and Wheelies, are only on GameCube.
I can answer this one. 2D Madness is only unlocked with the GBA hookup and Rayman 3 in the GBA, whereas Mad Trax is unlocked normally by getting a high enough score on the main game. I forgot exactly which score though, it's been so long.Drolpiraat wrote:We actually didn't manage to unlock 2D Madness yet (I even wonder how I unlocked Mad Trax on my old computer, I'm going to investigate that soon), since we need a full save file for both roms (GBA and GC) for that. On top of that, Haruka's GBA save file doesn't seem to work. Do you know of any way to get a good save file for the Gamecube version (maybe you know how to transfer yours to PC?) or for the GBA version?
I tried Hoodlum's Revenge, and Prince of Persia Sands of Time on GBA as well (it also had GC to GBA exclusive features like Rayman 3).PluMGMK wrote:Hoodlums' Revenge can't be the answer, it came out after R3.
I did this, it doesn't do anything. You get red circles for completing all minigames except Mad Trax and Wheelis, for whatever reason, but even completing and getting a best time both Mad Trax and Wheelis, which I did, does not unlock anything or make anything appear, including the red circle.Newray wrote:Other games than R3 GBA don't work with the connection. It only works with R3 (same regional version) in the special connection world on the left of the world map. And if there's really no secret passage in 2D Madness, then the only logical possibilities I can think of are completing all minigames INCLUDING Mad Trax and Wheelis (thus completing the whole lap and saving a 'best time' on both of them), or less likely my previous point of connecting 2 R3 GBA game paks at once.
All has been done. Nothing unlocked.Newray wrote:Either way, everything else aside, go on and try one of these:

I must have bothered Ubisoft support tons of time. No help. The only developers who will know how to unlock this is Ubisoft Shanghai as they did all the extra Gamecube stuff. I don't know how to contact them.Newray wrote:3: Ask the Ubisoft developers what the **** is going on with this minigame.
I have never seen this "Final Challenge," nor does simply completing Rayman 3 on GC or GBA unlock it.R3GC press release wrote:3.Final Challenge: Download and tackle one final Game Boy Advance challenge after completing Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc on the Nintendo GameCube

Britta found it in a fansite, but there isn't explained how it gets unlocked.syntheticgerbil wrote:It appears someone here recovered the screenshot though. Who did that and how did they do it? I must have missed it. Was it you, Spiraldoor?
That's correct, yes. I'm 100% sure that screenshot was placed in RZ's original screenshot gallery back in 2003. It remained there until the site was replaced with the Rabbids version. After clicking the thumbnail of the screenshot, you got to see the exact same image as posted in this topic, with a short description about minigames and such. Nothing that helps us further in the search on how to unlock this minigame.spiraldoor wrote:The image was recovered by a user named raymanxbritta, who is unusually good at finding rare images. Ah, what you guys are saying would make sense. Then the person telling me about "2D Madness 2" (not sure why they didn't say "Nightmare") was just reposting that screenshot. I was under the impression he/she had taken the screenshot of their game to show me. If that's so, it makes me wonder if it exists. I'm very happy no one can say I'm crazy any more. I swear I didn't dream up that screenshot, and here it is.Newray wrote:That's correct, yes. I'm 100% sure that screenshot was placed in RZ's original screenshot gallery back in 2003. It came from the PC version. CheatCat posted about it here, but didn’t say much apart from telling us that he saw the name. My guess is that they ran out of time while adding minigames to Rayman 3, so several minigames which were once planned to appear in every version of the game (the Xowar minigame, the chess minigame and the 2D Nightmare minigame) ended up getting removed. The GameCube team added Mad Trax and Wheelis, and while they were at it I guess they had enough time to get 2D Nightmare into a playable state too. CheatCat said that he read about these minigames in the ‘fix.lvl’ file, which is in the ‘Gamedatabin’ folder, which is in the ‘Rayman3’ directory.syntheticgerbil wrote:I'm wondering about this text file, though. Where did this come from? Did this come from the PC version? Why would the PC version have stuff about Gamecube exclusives? I mean, it's not impossible Gamecube and I'm curious.
You’d have to ask CheatCat about that, but unfortunately he left in protest when Matyuv was made a moderator over a year ago and still hasn’t returned. Some other members who have the PC version might be able to check out the files on the disc he mentioned and see if they can find anything new.syntheticgerbil wrote:Is it possible someone can list the contents of the text file for me? Is this all the text in the whole game or is there just a separate text file ONLY for 2D Madness?
Hehe, what a coincidence. I just talked about him in the IRC. Anyways, he actually visited Betilla's Gardens just today, so he's still observing the activity.spiraldoor wrote:You’d have to ask CheatCat about that, but unfortunately he left in protest when Matyuv was made a moderator over a year ago and still hasn’t returned.
The procedures of navigation I can handle myself, I just wanted to know which file to look and to open but ok. I'm going to check out.spiraldoor wrote:I’m not sure what OS you’re using (I’m using Vista and I can’t remember all the details of how XP works), but try putting the Rayman 3 disc in the drive, opening ‘Computer’ or ‘My Computer’, right-clicking on the drive with the disc in it, clicking ‘Explore’, then opening the ‘Rayman3’ folder, then opening the ‘Gamedatabin’ folder. There should be a file in there called ‘fix.lvl’; open it with Notepad or something like that, then post the text inside it here. You may also want to check the other files in the ‘Gamedatabin’ folder to see if they’ve got anything interesting in them.
