Hah. That's pretty much the minimal reaction people have over here in Canada when I talk to new people (British accent). It's quite troubling to talk in public, because everyone views Europeans as exotic foreigners, and saying one word will have people asking me "oh, where are you from?" (As if it isn't obvious enough) and people saying "oh, your accent is sexy," or "oh, your accent is annoying."

How come she's the only one with an accent?
