Why not try to spice them up a bit? instead of "Anti Toon was walking, after he escaped from Mr. Dark", you could have "Antitoon wiped saliva off his brow as he ran through the forest, hoping not to get stuffed down anyone else's throat." I know it's a bad example, but you get it.)

Mr Dark sat down under a large tree. He was tired from handing out all the flyers. "Jesus christ, (funny how he says this even though he doesn't have a clue what Jesus Christ is) why do these evil people's lairs have to be so far away from each other? I mean, all my former-generals of my armies are either on holiday, or in some secluded part of the Valley, Razorbeard was half-way across the galaxy, Andre was impossible to chase down due to his nature of running away from everyone after his defeat of Rayman, and Reflux was all the way at the top of the Tower of the Leptys. Do you even KNOW how many stairs that tower has?" Mr dark slumped down under the tree and closed his eyes. he soon dozed off...

Name: Sideways (His real name is Torzue but he ended up being named Sideways by everyone for some reason he forgot long ago)

Special abilities: Builds, repairs, collects and sells watches and clocks. He can also play the flute pretty well.

Pic/looks: He is the same species as Rayman. He is pretty old, with long-ish white hair and a white beard tied into a short ponytail on his chin (Stylish!). He has a long plait of hair on each side of his head which are slightly longer than the rest of his hair. Sideways has kind of a wrinkly face and some freckles. He wears green clothing with a beige and maroon checkered coat, and brown sandals. He also wears an old wide-brimmed beige hat with a brown band around the top of it, and a little red love heart on the front of it.
If you are illiterate or just can't picture this thing in your head, I took the time to draw it.


Since I'm a serious roleplayer, I'll also provide a backstory:
Torzue, better known as 'Sideways', was born in Band Land. Around his late teenage years, his parents left and moved back to the valley to be with the majority of the population. Exploring his interest in music for a while, Sideways stayed in Band Land for a few more years, before being overwhelmed with loneliness and the need to live among his own kind. After returning to the Valley, Sideways moved into his new home just a little bit away from the rest of the valley's population and suddenly found a new passion- watches and clocks. Over the next few decades, even after his parents passed away, Sideways opened up a little store next to his house where he sells, builds, repairs and collects all kinds of watches and clocks. Even though he has never actually worn a watch, because... Y'know...

OOC: Does this roleplay have a story? Theres like one thing jumping back and forth between locations....uh, people grabbing beers and falling asleep at random.....and.....stuff. And its making it so hard to think up a character that would have any relevance to anything said so far. ^^;;; Also, are all of the locations mentioned that close to each other? Or is there some kind of rules/maps or such? I'm trying to come up with a character I'm just totally failing D: (btw if there is an evil side somewhere....anywhere....ever....i want in on it!)

Sideways opened his eyes wearily and lifted his head from his pillow.
"Guh, what's the time?" He mumbled to himself, rubbing his forehead. Being in a room with at least a dozen old, fancy clocks, it didn't take Sideways long to figure out that he had slept in again. "Darn! I shouldv'e opened my store well over an hour ago..."
Sideways quickly jumped out of bed, making himself feel dizzy and lightheaded. He grabbed his favourite coat and hat and put them on, then slipped into his old sandals and grabbed his cane- which he didn't really need, considering he can walk just fine without it, but it's his favourite cane- then quickly headed into the kitchen. Not wanting to waste time, Sideways ate a handful of dry oatmeal from a bag, drank a glass of water, brushed his teeth and made a mad dash to the small building next to his house. All in under five minutes.
"I must be getting too old, I went to bed as early as I could and I'm still half asleep!" He grumbled to himself, unlocking the door. Inside was a large display of many different kinds of watches and clocks. Sideways put an 'Open' sign on the door and shut it, before walking over behind the counter, dragging his feet along the way. There wasn't really much need for all the rush, as the store, which bought, sold, repaired and made clocks and watches, never really got busy anyway. Sideways opened up a wooden draw under the counter and pulled out a silver wristwatch. The wristwatch was open at the back and the little complex gears inside where exposed.
"Shame I'll never really be able to wear one of these." Sideways sighed to himself, noting his obvious lack of wrists. He quietly began concentrating on the open back of the watch, carefully replacing broken gears.

OOC: Making parts of the story as you go on is a given, but in general, all interesting forum RPs have at least a basic plot to start off with. A goal for the characters to achieve or the happenings in their world around them. To give players something to look forward to. If characters are just zooming around from spot to spot just.....walking....basically.....there's no way the more serious roleplayers would join in. Plus how are we supposed to know exactly what's going on, ever? We can't read each other's minds and create a coherent story that way. There needs to be at least SOME guidelines to what character roles are.

I think the biographies should at least be as detailed as THEdragon's. That one gives a bit more insight to the characters aspirations, personality, etc. so we can interact with them better. It doesn't have to be insanely long or detailed, but right now anyone could make a character that's just like "I'm short and I can punch things" and they get accepted. No meat on the character's bones......so.

Its really up tot he GM (Game Master) to manage all of that. Not the players.

Also taking a look through the posts makes me wonder if any body has even roleplayed ever at all here. We have people controlling others' characters and everything else. Its MADNESS!1!!111!1!1 XD

A good RP also has some form of structure or guideline for posting. This keeps the player's posts easier to follow. Like some of these players should watch how they format their posts. Maybe a rule on how a player can post actions, thoughts, speech from their character. The more 'advanced' way to roleplay is to use proper sentence structure in paragraph format with " around speech and ' or () around thoughts, to show them separate from what the others' characters actually hear. Another, more newbie way to organize posts is to have * around actions, and to place CharacterName: speech here, for the dialogues. Anything to give it a little more structure so that its easy to follow, because right now it can get really confusing.

But aside from those detailed RP etiquette, you will at LEAST need the loose bearings of a plot or else you're never going to gain the interest of most members.

Sideways put down the silver wristwatch on the counter for a moment to rub his eyes, as his vision was still a bit blurry. As he looked around, he could help but notice that he had forgotten something, and that the room was unusually dark. Sideways chuckled to himself as he opened the windows, which had been shut all the time he had been inside the store. He squinted as sunlight poured into the room, and looked around for a glimpse of anyone nearby. There was no-one around, and aside from the ticking of clocks all around him, the place was pretty much silent. Straightening his hat with a sigh, Sideways returned to the counter and picked up the watch again, inserting a final gear into it before shutting the back of it and giving the face a wipe with a dry cloth. He wasn't as lonely as he had been in Band Land, but sometimes hearing only the same ticking noises over and over could get a bit tedious.

OOC: Yeah we need to do something about the plot. Sometimes the plot can develop along the way but the posts need to be more detailed and specific for that to happen.
