Just wait a few years, you're still pretty young. Maybe one day you'll feel the same way as my Grandpa Ste over there....

Yeah, years ago I felt like you did, hated sleep. Now I think it's a blessing consider I work from 8-5 on weekdays.

That's what happens, you hate sleep when you're younger, but you eventually turn into Garfield.

The phenomenon is definitely observable across the population here on RPC. I've seen many members add references to sleep to their profiles as they reached their late teens. Dart, for instance…

I think this is definitely evidence that most people at some point will eventually have desire for more sleep. It’s almost noon and I want to have a nap.

Laughing at my old posts also reduces my stress level to a point.

I find reflecting on funny moments from my past also helps me relax. It's usually for that reason that I like to play older games too for nostalgia, they always trigger memories.

Pictures of yorkie puppies (like this, which it is pictured here), pictures of the LPS-styled Brown Yorkie and fan arts of R2 Rayman (such as depicting his emotions which was painted in 2009) relax me.

I guess, music has the greatest effect on me. When I need to calm down, I go for a walk, put on my headphones and listen to my favourite songs. It helps me to relax and charge. But when I have panic attacks or anxiety, I rarely can cope with the problem by myself. In most cases CBD oil helps me.

I recently had a panic attack one morning, which I assume was from lacking sleep, since the only time I've experienced them is when I woke up too early after being awake for way too long.

The last one I had seemed pretty bad. I was extremely tired and wanted to go back asleep, but I couldn't, and just went into a panic, including cold sweat while shaking, and worrying a lot for no reason. I couldn't make sense as to why I felt like this, and for some reason I felt like I was going to die.

I just went and made tea, then put music on my TV. After I drank the tea, I just fell back asleep for hours, then woke up feeling great. I guess either tea or music (or both) keep me calm then. I think beer does the same thing, but it's not exactly something I drink when I'm only awake. :P

I'm glad you managed to overcome a panic attack like that alone, it's not something I would be able to do :oops2: Luckily I haven't had an attack like that in years, but sometimes I get the feeling that I will have one in just seconds, and those times really freak me out.

I think what helps me calm down (and stay calm, even if I'm not about to have an attack), is lying down, turning off lights, getting some fresh air in the room, things like these. Drinking cold water or tea helps also, as does listening to the sound of rain and thunder. I've never felt down when it was raining or there was a thunder going on!

It's not something I could always do, I had my moments years ago. I think it's something you start to get used to after a while. :P

Personally, when I get like that, I feel kind of stupid about it since I know nothing's wrong, but I can't help it. I guess only others who have experienced it would know what it's like.

In 5 years, I don't think this has changed too much.

I think the most successful ways to keep me calm is reading, listening to music, eating something I like (mmmm....chocolate..), or watching TV shows I like (currently, it's detective shows) I love video games but depending on the game it can stress me out a bit. Not sure why I said sleeping was something that calms me.

Well, sleeping undoubtedly may calm someone, so you got a point there :P

In my case, I'd say neither coffee nor tea can calm me down, but cold showers and driving do. Specially driving, that's what I do when I'm very, very anxious. I love turning up the music and driving my car through different routes, I'm a new guy after that :D.

Surprisingly, reading comics also relaxes me. I "discovered" it out a few years ago, when I decided to grab an old Asterix comic I had at home since I don't know when (until that moment I hadn't read any Asterix comic for 15/16 years).

I think stress calms me :fou:

Seriously, I heard a few weeks ago that being addicted to stress is a thing. And then if at any point I'm not worried / stressed, I start worrying that I've forgotten what to worry about…

More seriously, I think watching Fair City (an Irish soap) calms me. For twenty minutes I only have to care about the lives of these crazy (and usually badly-acted) people on the screen, not my own :hap:

I've heard about that a while ago, that's a clear sign of being used to a busy life. I don't know if "addicted" is the proper word to define that, but that doesn't sound good... I mean, it must be extremely easy to burnout under constant stress.

It's addiction in the sense that it's reinforced by dopamine hits. I don't know if I suffer from it, but it sure sounds like it…

It doesn't help that the thought pattern has been somewhat justified this year: I used to calm down by stroking my little cat, but I was always anxious that I would lose her… And then I did… :(

I'm really sorry about your loss. That grief is something only pet owners can understand, in the end they're another family member.
