A comet is, if I remember rightly, an object made entirely out of ice that hurdles through space either 'as a rogue' or in orbit around a star or other heavenly body. (like mine - OH NO HE DIDN'T)
It has a tail caused by the astral winds of a star and is not, as is common (Hollywood) misconception, caused because it's travelling so fast.

I'm pretty sure they're not pure ice. Comets contains plenty of rock, metal and other rubbish.

Are you sure those are not asteroids? I thought I had finally learnt the difference between the two; comets being ice, asteroids being space crap.

I thought comets were big balls of space crap that just happened to contain a good bit of water ice.

Wikipedia wrote:Comet nuclei are known to range from about 100 meters to more than 40 kilometres across. They are composed of rock, dust, water ice, and frozen gases such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, methane and ammonia.

1) It contains eight planets and one star
2) The planets are named after Roman gods
3) Earth is the only planet known to support life
4) It's five billion years old
5) It's about six billion km in diametre
6) There is an asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter
7) The Voyager 1 just left the Solar System
8) All planets behind Mars are gas planets
9) Venus and Jupiter are visible in the sky from Earth
10) Even the slightest tilt of a planet's axis can mean the difference between Summer and Winter.

Why was that actually really difficult?
