Haha, I re-explored Rayman 3 for getting a new high score and was it worth it? Fuck yes it was, highest score in 'Merica. XD

"Now, I have examined dead animals in the tropics where corpses are reduced to a putrefying mess within hours. I have observed a human autopsy and have conducted dissections of creatures ranging from a woodlouse to a bottle nosed dolphin. I have seen quite a few dead humans, some in particularly unpleasant conditions. On one occasion I even attempted mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on a corpse that had drowned on its own vomit. I am not a squeamish man, and I was an even less squeamish youth. But this smell was the most disgusting that I have ever encountered."

I think we have a spam-bot on our hands. :|

We are taking care of that. However, it is not advisable replying to bot posts. ;) Try to not do that next time.

Lesson learned. And I've added him as a foe, just in case.

Wouldn't be worth putting any bot into the foes either as they get deleted eventually.

Huh. I suppose that's true. But until then it helps to block out those annoying comments.

I fear I'll end up canceling the contest, or just voting by myself since the staff has been incredibly innactive lately and has been few/no support at all in the process of voting. I'll think in this but if I end up canceling, I'll reward the participants with few Tings as a compensation for bothering yourselves to submit entries. Sorry for any inconvenience.

You can ask for some voters, those ones being active members who haven't submitted to this context.

Just a suggestion...

I agree with this idea. Considering that voting goes pretty well on the Manipulate the Image thread, why not have regular members vote here as well?

Awww, I was really excited to hear the winners, it's a shame not many people were able to participate, considering it were a great idea, seeing it being cancelled is sad, oh well.

Aye. I would be glad to aid in the voting process.

There's quite a number of pictures mind you, there were 7 participants, each of which could have taken upto 60 photos, giving a potential 420 photos to look and judge for the various categories.

I doubt that many photos were taken, really. But if that is the case, I don't really think it should be a problem using the process of elimination.

That's the potential maximum, the rules were that you could take up to 10 photos per category, and there are 6 categories in total, and 7 participants, thus giving a potential maximum of 420, however, it is doubtful every single participant would have submitted such a large number, thus the maximum is probably not going to be anywhere near 420, but it could still be a rather large amount anyways.

It can be done, and not with much effort really. If you just spend maybe half an hour per-day browsing through them for one week, an accurate representation of your own view on what you believe to be the best shots will be undoubtedly realised. In the most general sense, I often divide artistic judgement into two stages: Immediate appeal, and Long-term appeal. For instance, you may like one image A and dislike image B at first, but then not after too long, your preference may swap. While I do believe that long-term appeal is more meritable than immediate appeal, both need to be taken into account as being positive factors, regardless whether or not the shot you felt immediate appeal for now holds much less appeal. From what I've seen, most people just disregard this and always believe that their current mindset is the most correct, which is just dumb. All mindsets are equal, as they are what you truly believe at that time.

At least, that's just how I see it.
