It's not electricity. Basically, I'm asking, "hertz is a synonym for 'per ___' – fill in the blank".

Ah, then I would say second, since as far as I know it means cycles per second and measures frequency.

Yep, a hertz is an inverse second. Funnily enough, a becquerel is also an inverse second, but with different nuance.

Yes, and not the internet, as the Parent's Council in my secondary school decided to maintain when they organized a table quiz all those years ago.
