Re: Rayman Legends

Clara Knight wrote:I personally loved as much the other games' soundtrack as the Rayman Origins's one. What got me into the RO soundtrack? It's orchestral, a kind a music I quite enjoy. Many games like Legend of Zelda or Mario in Mario Galaxy got into this kind of music...

I think it's just a matter of taste. Some will like, others not. I like it a lot, while I know Haruka for example prefers the music from the older games. Does that mean we're pulling our hair to proove who's right? It's pointless to begin a fight just because of different musical tastes...
That's the exact same reason I like it as well; it's really well done and it syncs up with the game brilliantly. The part I don't like is the fact there's really not much distinguishing it from anything else - the exact same soundtrack could have been put in a Mario, Kirby, Zelda game and so on. It felt like the composer was much less involved with the game's artistry then they had been in the previous games. Aside from liking it/disliking it, it leans more towards being an observation than it being an opinion.
Clara Knight wrote:Now returning to the main subject...I think the girl looks nice, but indeed I would have prefered to see "old" characters like Ly. This would have made way more sense. But still, we know few about the game. Let's wait for the E3 and see what happens. :)
Also, the "new playable characterS" was in plural. I really wonder who will be the other characters! Razor Razor Razor Ra- *gets slaped*
I could swear the viking girl is straight from How to Train your Dragon as well. I mean inspiration is one thing.... :oops2:
El Dango wrote:Expecting me to know that you were talking about the Legends trailer (which was very poorly implied), and then facepalming because I didn't guess it is an extremely dickish thing to do. 'Haters gonna hate', however, is a common saying that isn't meant to be offensive at all, and I didn't mean it this way either, so I'm sorry if it seemed that way to you. In any case, next time you really should make things clear before you call out people for being stupid or insult them in other ways.

Also, I'm not mad at you or anything like that, just somewhat annoyed that I have to put up with this.
Likewise, facepalming isn't meant to be offensive, nor do I interpret it as calling you stupid or 'insulting' you, especially since I thought it was decently well implied, but I guess it wasn't. Likewise again, I find the phrase "haters gonna hate" when directed at logical reasoning to be extremely annoying, so I guess we can just meet half way and dismiss the issue.

Sure, but please, no more facepalming unless I actually say something stupid. It's not like that never happens, like if I'm wasted or some shizzle.

You're right, I also remind the characters of the movie when I saw her. I wonder if Ubisoft got inspired in the movie?

Yeah they probably did. The music in the trailer even includes a part which sounds exactly the same as a tune from the movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8n-BkHUwKY

^Here comes another one who notices :P good to know that this trailer is not official (at all), or Ubisoft would be in great copyright trouble :hinhin:

Well I guess it still is neat to see what something is like when it's still in production - using placeholders and such.

I'm really curious how this soundtrack will sound like. I hope they compose something that sounds like music in the trailer. It was epicness written all over it and it fit so well :proud:

Well, part of the soundtrack in the trailer was original from the game, I heard at the beginning a remastered version of Rayman Origins' theme song. The rest was taken from How to Train your Dragon.

It would be nice to hear a new recurring theme present. Considering the amazing HTTYD music in there that they're using as a placeholder, whatever they're going to come up with will probably sound almost if not as good.

Okay, to be honest, when the screenshots of Rayman Legends were leaked, I was a bit skeptical, seeing it takes place in medieval times. And I thought it wasn't going to be like Origins at all. But when I saw the trailer, I was blown away and ate my own words! By God! This games looks incredible and so much better, by art style. This game looks like a promising sequel. In addition, finally some female playable characters for once! It's nice to see more female characters since Origins had only one. Don't get me wrong, I loved Rayman and his pals, but it's nice to see some new ideas!

Since I didn't have the chance before, I'll post my reaction to the trailer now. EPIC. Now that they're giving the levels a bit more colour and life they seem to be springing out at me, this may well turn out to be the sequel origins, and Ancel, deserves. I'm not kidding, after I saw that video, it left me wanting to play the game for the rest of the day. Brightened up my day.

I don't care what they say! Don't believe them Ancel! 2D Rayman is just as good as 3D Rayman!

meh, I edited my post because it was too... uhm "agressive"? but now that beebo posted, I must confess what I posted before D:

I'm tired of people complaining about how Rayman games suck because they're 2d. I'm praying to Michel to return to 3d games so people shut the hell up , that's all. I mean, really, I miss Rayman's 3d games too, but that doesn't make the 2d games suck, I think some people here are just exhagerating.

But instead of trying to force him back to 3D gamnes, why not help others learn to love 2D games as well as 3D? I myself was quite satisfied with Rayman Origins, and based on what we've seen already, I think Rayman Legends will blossom blissfully, maybe there are some things we may have problems with, but I trust that Ubisoft listen to their fans, at the least to include some popular ideas into the game.

I'd say it's just the major bias that quite a lot of gamers in general seem to have against fully-2D games. Perhaps they think that because it's in the same form as how games started, and not in a lovely 3D environment, it's automatically going to be bad. Perhaps they feel you can't get as good a story or be able to express as much emotion. Perhaps it's another reason, but I don't really know. I personally tend to like fully-2D games a lot more than 3D games, to me it just feels that with a good enough artist, you can make anything however you want it to be. I think RO succeed in terms of expression and just how God damn good looking it is.

I'm a bigger fan of 3D games than I am 2D ones, but nevertheless, there's nothing preventing them from being just as good as each other.
