Wow.

I guess I should share what a strange morning I've just had.
I dreamed I was back in my old secondary school, as a student. The day started, and I had a class, possibly Chemistry, though I don't remember (more on that later). Then I had Biology. Don't remember much of that either, but I do remember being aware that it was Biology, and my Biology teacher was involved. After that, it was apparently lunch time, so I made my way to the lockers.
The guy with the locker next to mine somehow got me to show an Irish teacher a proposal I had made out for a reform of Irish orthography. (Okay yes, I really did write out such a proposal this weekend, but no-one could convince me to show it to a teacher in its current state!) The thing is though, the teacher in my dream doesn't actually work at the school, she retired years ago and gives grinds. She also runs a church choir though – I've dealt with her in both capacities at this point, so she's important to me.
Anyway, I decided to have my lunch, but realised that it was strange that I had had only two classes. Surely there should have been three before morning lunch break? But I saw everyone else sitting down and having lunch, so I proceeded towards my habitual spot. It occurred to me that maybe I should check my timetable, but somehow I was at a loss as to how to do that – in university we tend to use our phones to look it up online, but being in secondary school I didn't have my phone. So then I thought about how weird it was that I have to wear a uniform, and I can't use my phone, and my old mates are gone (though the guy I met at the lockers actually was in my year – yay logic!). I sat down in a place near my usual spot (first years had taken mine – this often happened to my friend and me last year :pascontent:) and began to think through this.
It still bothered me that I had had only two classes, then when I thought about it I realised I couldn't even remember what the first one had been. I knew my memory would be better than this in real life, no matter what the circumstances. "I strongly suspect this is a dream," I thought to myself. I looked around again (my seat had seemingly moved halfway across the hall since I sat down). "Who am I kidding, I know this is a dream!" I thought. So I stood up on my seat and shouted out to everyone, "I KNOW I'M DREAMING!".
A change came in the environment that I knew, but didn't want to believe at first, was me waking up. Another student (whose face looked like Einstein's for some reason) turned around to me and said "Good for you (!)". I'm pretty sure this wasn't part of the dream per se, just something I imagined on purpose while half-awake to try (and fail, evidently) to give me some gratification. By then the jig was up and I knew I just needed to open my eyes to see where I really was (in bed).
Funny thing here is that it was my failing memory, rather than the totally nonsensical premise, that made me realise it was a dream. :P

So, given that ending, I knew I had to post it here. I began considering the wording immediately, and seemingly nodded off again while doing so. So some of what you just read (assuming you are reading this post from top to bottom :P) was drafted while I was wandering around in another dream world. (I guess it's a dreary version of my home-town that I've come to dream of quite often over the past year or so – probably connected to my leaving secondary school as well). Eventually I somehow met Candish (seemingly in the same world – also she looked like a girl I used to have a crush on, if you must know!) and proceeded to tell her about the first dream.
I was aware that my voice was croaky and that I probably should brush my teeth before talking to someone. But I wasn't exactly in a position to do that (seemingly out in the town, nowhere near a bathroom). This "croaky voice" thing changed when I got to the end of my description and mentioned the word "lucid". I mispronounced it and immediately corrected myself, but the correction came out in a different voice (sounding more like a girl I know from university). I'm wondering if I was actually sleep-talking, but my mouth refused to utter this final correction (luckily the house was already empty by the time I had this dream, so I have no way of knowing).
Anyway, my mother appeared then and told me I had to do something involving a cheque (mixing up about three different IRL concerns in the process). We exited by way of a few platforms going down to a basement with a few metres' drop from one to the next (well, I had hoped to dream of Portal, but that's as close as I got). Then that was pretty much the end. I got up and came down here to post this ASAP. :P

Fucking hell, Plum, that is epic  Accidentally falling into lighter morning dreams while trying to secure a deeper one in your memory is one of humanity's greatest challenges. I'm always a bit envious of people who are able to have the presence of mind to recognise that they are in a dream, since even at my most lucid I'm rarely able to come to that conclusion. On a side note I'd be very interested to see your revised Irish orthography, even at a rough stage...

Well of course I look like that. If you put the same effort into remembering the love quartet as you do your dreams that crush might have gone somewhere :mefiant:
I'm honoured that your brain would choose me to confide in!

I guess I'd have to translate the proposal into English first… :P
