Re: Rayman 2
For the longest time the Top of the World was my favourite as well (the chair music on the N64 version is amazing), but within the last coufple years my favourite has definitely shifted over to The Canopy, I just love those 'woods' colours, especially with the backlit, silhouette forest backgrounds.Master wrote:Hmm, favourite level, it always seems to shift for me. Currently, I'm rather fond of The Top of the World.
Re: Rayman 2
One of my favourite levels is the Precipice, due to the action of the level: if you stop you get killed.
Also, I would like to share this little gem here:

I quite like The Sanctuary of Water and Ice myself. I find The Canopy and The Top of the World to be quite average.
Also, I found something interesting while I was playing the PC version of the game. It seems pressing and releasing the R button (J for keyboard users) to the rhythm of the main jingle for the game gives you max health. Apparently it was already known, but it is new to me.

This is new to me also, we need to note your discoveries on the Wiki sometime, Ribshark.
And, not to be a bothersome pest, but how's the R3 Widescreen thing doing?

Are you the creator of this video ?
And, the precipice is also a good level.
Re: Rayman 2
R3 widescreen is on a haitus as I couldn't manage to fully fix the GUI in widescreen.Master wrote:This is new to me also, we need to note your discoveries on the Wiki sometime, Ribshark.

On a more positive note, R2 PC widescreen is probably going to happen now (found everything I need, I just need to make the patcher program and then it will be done).

Re: Rayman 2
Yeah but it is stretched horizontally, the patch will fix that.

Re: Rayman 2
No, Geek. I didn't make the video.
@Ribshark Oh my, really? I need to test that next time I play R2.

Re: Rayman 2
Well, I can't complain if you're taking time off, though I find it commendable that you're willing to tackle the R2 PC widescreen issue. I look forward to seeing the realisation of such a patch.
Re: Rayman 2
Wow Haruka, that video is a gem indeed. Really hypnotising! I'm glad to see other people appreciate the Raymanian instead of the real-language voice acting.

No Hall of Doors, no deal.GeekOfTheGame wrote:This is my favorite version of Rayman 2.
In terms of actual levels, probably the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire, but many others are lovely too. I'd forgetten how evocatively simple the Top of the World's name is.GeekOfTheGame wrote:What is your preferred level of Rayman 2 ?
That's new to me. How the hell are we still discovering secrets in this game!RibShark wrote:Also, I found something interesting while I was playing the PC version of the game. After checking out more of the users work, I love his remixes and other videos as well.
Re: Rayman 2
@Droolie It surely is, right
? I think the creator did a fantastic job in creating a music with the R2 sound effects (voice clips actually) and yet making it melodical. I already converted this to MP3 to tomorrow put it on my phone, to listen to it in Drawing classes
.
Other levels I do enjoy from Rayman 2 is the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire (due to its length and to be one of the biggest climaxes of magic, mystery, adventure and mythology from the game) but I also do like the Beneath the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava (since you can fly in those wide rooms full of lava and spiked tentacles. A special mention to that room where the music suddenly changes and you see really liquid yellow lava everywhere: it is damn "wow" moment when you reach that room for the first time). The Top of the World is other fun level to play, not just because of the chair but also to fight those Barrel Pirates in those compressed storage chambers. The music helps too.
I should try out now what Ribshark mentioned a while ago. It is incredible how we are still discovering things in Rayman games even more than ten years after their release. One of the reasons I love Rayman games so much!
EDIT: It did not work for me.
I grew up with the Hall of Doors from PC version, and from every videogame I've played so far, I never saw any game making such a great level hub like Rayman 2 did. But I also like the gates detail from the PS1 that I wouldn't have minded to be incorporated in PC but then, there would be no Chamber of the Teensies (that is mentioned in the manual if I remember well, but to be honest I prefer how the Teensie abord Rayman in PS1).spiraldoor wrote:No Hall of Doors, no deal.GeekOfTheGame wrote:This is my favorite version of Rayman 2.

You have to press and release the J button (on the keyboard) to the main tune (the one that plays when you activate a switch), pressing on the first note, releasing on the second, and so on.
