Who knew that guy was such a purist? Great fan above all.

Hey guys,
I just created an account for taking part in this discussion :)

So my favorite level is The Iron Mountains, because of the impressive river-gliding and the following cutscene, the pretty open shell-ride, the ship-flying-minigame and the fight against Grolem 13 on PS2. I also like The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire very much, it has a big variety of gameplay-elements. And I just love the plums.
But I hate the Whale Bay, the diving is so extremely boring. Whenever I play Rayman 2 again, I really want to skip that level.

But thanks for the video, it makes me smiling every time. Really good work!

Whale Bay is pretty great in the PS1 version.

Hmm, the merging of The Sanctuary of Water and Ice with Whale Bay...
It was an interesting idea, and it did give Carmen more bearing in the overall plot, but I'm rather indifferent to it overall.

Whale Bay has some of the best music in the game, if not the best. It might be my favourite level next to The Canopy, no pun intended.

Music-wise, I agree, I love the eerie and serene track that plays when you're swimming underwater. I'm referring more to the merged Whale Bay Sanctuary in the PS1 version in regards to my indifference.

The PS1-Version is a lot better indeed, I also like the slightly different swimming-controls. But I still don't like the level :p
And the music is really great, as always in the game.

Hehe, the PS1 version isn't better as a whole. While it's got some fascinating changes, it's still very much the downsized version of Rayman 2.

No, I didn't mean the whole PS1-Version, just the Whale Bay :D

The PS1 version is definitely more interesting to play, with the gates to the Sanctuary of Water and Ice and the dialogue between Rayman and Axel. It is a shame it does not include the slide, one of my favourite things in the same Sanctuary.

Am I the only one that enjoys to play the Echoing Caves? Flying barrels and background music please.

I like the level now, but as a kid it frustrated the ever living hell out of me, having to carefully control Rayman as he holds on a flying barrel for his life. One slight tilt of the analog stick and you're dead, it was rather scary. XD

Though the first section of the level with the four switches (especially that part where you're up in the sky, which I might say is one of Rayman 2's most beautiful moments) was awesome.

I also like that little exploration moment of the four switches, especially that part with the hovering pirate platforms with the hidden Super Yellow Lum.

The first part of The Echoing Caves is extremely fun, especially the door-glitch. :hinhinhin:

Tomb of the ancients is my absolute nightmare in Rayman 2. I am just glad when I see Clark there.

I LOVE getting secret Lum in 3DS version in Tomb of The Ancients. It is like nowhere else.

Didn't know that, but I have just watched a video about this. Ubisoft/the developers should make more of this little changes in future versions (or just completely remake the game).

LOL, It was sarcasm because as you might know, 3DS version is glitched up on Tomb of The Ancients.
Well Rayman 2 had remake on PS2, I don't think there is need for another one. Rayman 1 is the game that needs HD remake now.

Why sarcasm? I watched a video where the guy shows, that you have to jump somehow on the spiders at the wall. I thought the devs made it intentionally like this.
IMHO, Rayman Revolution isn't a remake, just Rayman 2 with an overworld. It looks even better on Dreamcast. But Rayman 1 is still beatiful as it was. On the other hand, if they made an HD-Remake, they would make it too easy, like Rayman Advance.

Nope, that webbing is meant to bounce you up, they somehow were able to break that behaviour, if there were no spiders there, the game would be uncompleteable.

As for Revolution, I'd disagree, Dreamcast has the frame rate advantage, but when it comes to pure visuals, there's much more detail and objects in Revolution, compare the Rayman models from each for instance, Revolution's actually has the detail on the shoes stick out as opposed to just being textured. As for the overworld being the only thing...eeh, not entirely, while it's true Revolution is pretty much Rayman 2 with an overworld, there's actually been a few additions here and there, Grolem 13 and the Biditank for instance never saw use in any of the original Rayman 2 versions.
