The worst part is I understand all of that article, and also cringe because of that.

I still remember someone posting this article here, and also me correcting some parts of the article, like referring to Adsolution as a male.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Whoa, a lot has happened here in the last three days. o3o
The game is turning into something of a fantasy being brought to life more and more, each and every day.
However, the free tools are readily available, and they have been for nearly decade or so, all for free, too. There's GIMP for 2D art such as textures, there's Blender the educational versions of 3ds Max and Maya, there's Microsoft Visual C++, there are a load of free game engines out there, and lastly, a few friends. It's really not difficult to get started if you ever had wanted to. I'd say that the most difficult thing about working on a game is dedication, especially if you're working in a team.
Yup, Spellbound Forest is my favourite track from Rayman M/Arena indeed.Shrooblord wrote:2. Dream Forest Depths: The Thicket (Redux)
Ah yes I recall this. It's got a magical and ominous feeling. I like how you expanded upon the Rise and Shine theme intro sequence from Rayman M (I think there's a little hint of Spellbound Forest in there too?)
You know what's funny? They're actually strings, but emphasised in such a way so that they purposely sound like an organ. You may notice the strange absence of the organ later, because there never was one to begin with.Shrooblord wrote:4. The Shutter Cave: In White Light
(...) The organs make me want to feel good, but there's something very creepy about them too.
Very much so. Raven's story has so much to do with Rayman and the Glade itself, and her story is quite tragic indeed. But in this game, her story isn't presented through much more than a silent metaphor. She isn't just a character in the story for the sake of having another. I think she may be my favourite character that (I've) created for Revenge of the Dark.Shrooblord wrote:5. Starlight Peak: Raven's Aurora
First impression: melancholy. Raven appears to me, judging by the music, as someone who's had to deal with a lot of hardships, but is still standing firmly on her feet. There's much darkness inside her, but her heart is bright. Something is reaching out, trying to escape - the flutes accomplish this feeling - but it's finding it hard to do so. The music makes her intriguing and majestic, if also someone to empathise with.
This, and at everyone who responded to this, thanks!Shrooblord wrote:Your soundtracks are really starting to make a very professional impression. You're getting amazing at this!
Thanks, it definitely will be seen through to the end!Slogbait wrote:Alright, I think I'm finally caught up enough to say that holy crap this is probably the greatest fan project I've ever seen put together. I'm a bit envious because I've wanted to do things like this for most of my life, but the tools to do so have never been available so I've had some pretty severe limitations on what I can and can't do. For everyone who's working on this project, I tip my hat to you. It's incredible and really shows what can be accomplished when you're determined to do something. I hope it's seen through to the end, especially with all the time and effort put into it. Keep up the good work! I look forward to the next update.

No, see, the problem isn't software. I'm more than capable of getting the software I need, and programming isn't much of an issue, either. The problem is the hardware I'm using. My laptop isn't powerful enough to run any 3D software of any kind. Heck, I can't even run Flash for more than a couple hours without it failing on me much less run any decent games on it. Money and time are other severe limitations. I can not afford a computer with better specs nor can I afford the materials to make my own. I could always try to create my own game engine, but that is very time consuming and like I said time is one of my limitations. I do what I can with what I have, but I don't feel like it's enough a lot of the time. Some day, though, I know I'll be able to get past all these obstacles, and I really look forward to the day I do.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark [STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]
Your laptop must be absolutely ancient then; you can probably find a decent computer for very cheap off of Craigslist.
But once you have upgraded your hardware, definitely let me know.

Yeah, it's old and really, really shitty. It's kind of embarrassing how shitty this laptop is.
Will do, though.
Will do, though.

Ad', did you change the title of the topic ? I don't see "[STRESSTEST DOWNLOAD]" anymore
.
About softwares, gonna have time in courses (for a project) to test Maya/Autodesk and Unity. Nice

I did remove that because I want to make room for when the next release might be.

I love that project and I realy would like to help but I don't see possibility! I never had done something with C++ and CryEngine. Maybe I could do German translations but my German skills aren't much better.
P.S. I can't execute the StressTest. The acount you gave us is blocked.

Aye, ignore that account. You can create your own at CryDev.net.
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
Well I have finally started to work on the novel again, and I want peoples opinion on this character. The Valley's own postal worker Peri:
"Relax," Moskito told Rayman "What could happen, we've been taking shifts guarding the Great Protoon for a year and nothing has happened. What makes you think something would happen tomorrow?"
"Anything could happen Moskito," Rayman answered "when you least expect it, something completely unexpected will happen."
"Like what?" Moskito asked.
"Well li-"
"INCOMING!!" proving Rayman's point, something flew into Moskito and knocked him to the ground. Moskito screamed and threw it off of him.
"Peri! Watch where you crash, will you?" Moskito told Peri as he picked himself off the ground.
"Sorry Moskito," Peri said "it's been a hard morning. I've been flying all over the valley delivering invitations, I can't even afford to have this conversation."
"Well then you better get going," Rayman said, he didn't want Peri to get in trouble. Although he struggled with his job, Rayman knew Peri enjoyed exploring the island, his job was really the only thing Peri had "But before you go, I should tell you that Tarayzan stole some of your mail."
"What!? Oh... Jasper will kill me if he finds out. I've got to go find Tarayzan," and with that Peri flew off.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
As per usual, I enjoyed the read! This one gave me a bit of a warm feeling.
Also, I spent my day today rigging and animating this:

The model was created and textured by Spanex.
It's a Lackin, one of the many wildlife creatures seen throughout the Glade. You'll most likely find them scampering about, nibbling on berries, or perhaps even sniffing flowers! Interestingly, this is my first time having ever rigged and animated a quadruped. I think it turned out pretty well.
Here's a YouTube version I uploaded before I rendered out the GIF:
