Sharing our own customised lore is fine and all, but it's when people start looking way too deep into something where there wasn't meant to be any definition in the first place and try to apply their 'findings' to actually 'legit answer' some 'questions' that just turns me off immediately.

It's even worse, like mentioned before, when people try to figure out the "developer's intent" and actually base their speculations for the upcoming game based off of said speculations.
I think, ultimately, that's a matter of opinion. Of course it's unproductive to be talking about something that doesn't really make any difference anyway, but, at least those are my feelings, I like doing it. There's a lot of fun to be had in trying to see whether the devs actually meant for something to happen, meant to 'say' something with that thing they put in the game that seems unnatural or catches the eye because it strikes us as odd or because it reminds us of something else. Sometimes that's just coincidental, sometimes it really is something the devs put in as a little joke towards whoever discovers it. People try to find a play on words in one of Euripides's lines in his tragedies, where maybe there wasn't any intended play to be found. People talk about television series and speculate about what might happen to the characters. In the end, it's entertainment, or social gathering, or whatever you want to call it. There need not be any purpose, but I can definitely understand if you think otherwise. After all, I have the same feelings about other types of conversation.

Aye, it is just an opinion. But since I strongly feel that those kinds of speculations are more negative than harmless or positive, I vocalise it.

Sure! It's only natural we say what we dislike in the one forum on the internet that I've ever seen where everyone is actually so mindful of one another. Seriously, us people are a great team sometimes... or a horrible, terrible adversary to those we dislike.

Anycandlewaxies, what else is new in Legends? There's been a change of storyline, it's been delayed, it's now multiplatform - any thoughts of non-WiiU-users on getting the game? I'm definitely getting it myself, but I'm still hovering over the decision whether to get it for the Xbox like I did for Origins, or waiting for a - maybe never-to-be-released - PC version.

My PC lacks the graphical grunt to provide a satisfying experience, it's the PS3 version for me.

There, those modified quotes are true for me :) I got the PC version of Origins... I can only run it at 60fps on the lowest resolution though... but I hope I can get a better PC soon.

Meh, not anytime soon, my laptop is supposed to last me for quite some time still.

I have faith that a PC version is coming out by 2014. So far all the canon Rayman games had PC ports at a point, and the fact that an adapted one is being made for PS3 and Xbox 360 only opens the chances even more.

For some reason talking about 2014 when it's only just 2013 really depresses me. Not many things do, but that's one of them.
---

I think I'll just be getting the Xbox version (?), because I'd rather be able to play a new Rayman game than wait to get it on a platform I don't really prefer over another. Xbox, PC, virtual-reality contact lens - it doesn't make that big a difference for me.

Is there an official date confirmed for the release of the online mode on Wii U? I'm looking forward to it!

We don't know yet. We've been waiting for other announcement. They said "by begginings of April": it shall be between 1st April or 14th April. But I believe it shall happen in a Thursday because it is when the eShop is updated in the Wii U. So, day 4 or 11.

Hey, we all know that, we are not the Sonic fanbase who try to make everything officially canon :P

It's just... you know, our way to waste time, our little entertainment. We don't really know anything about the actual plot, and never discussed or debated about it. we were just sharing speculations. We never actually go that deep, I mean, come on... nobody here gives a shit about how Polokus became a hippie, for example.
Adsolution wrote: Why does Rayman's hair change? Why are none of the locations the same? Why is there no connection between anything? To me, I think that is one of the most unproductive ways to talk about a series.
Says the person who wants RoTD to be completely canon, giving an explanation to -EDITED TO AVOID PROBLUMS. instead of just making the god damn game the way it was originally intended. ;)

This is right. I wanted to make that point, but got too lazy.

Sergio and Rulez, are you both completely illiterate? I'm especially getting pissed off by you, Sergio, not reading my posts before you reply:

Just because I can, I'll continue a little bit more.

It's my own fanwork, I can make it however the hell I want to. I am not debating its plausibility, I've never once brought it up in any kind of canonical discussion (aside from one little tiny thing a year or two back), and I've certainly never used it as a basis for an argument. I know full well that every link between the games I've created is completely within the bounds of my own mind and ideas, and has absolutely nothing to do with Ancel's intent, or even what other people think it should be. As you know, I have the ridiculously ambitious plan to try and actually make the game canon by consulting with Ancel himself in the future, but that is completely different from trying to simply 'understand' the canon in its current state through contrived ideas and nitpicking.

On a side-note, please don't relay information about my game that I've only spoken to you about in private; that being what Rulez edited out of your post above.

Well, my point (albeit it only consisted of agreeing with Sergio) was that it's good to try and explain things in the lore etc., at least in my opinion. I like doing that, and even remember giving you a few ideas a year or so ago, for example the Podocrock's subtle design change. The early design wasn't even in the final game, yet I found a way to include that in something that would also explain it.

I mean otherwise, well, it's just, like, your opinion, man.

And we've already been over the fact that micro-speculations being unproductive is simply my opinion. That conversation was long past, right up until Sergio decided to vomit on his keyboard... right on cue too.

It isn't a novelty for me since Clara took a photo to the very same add she saw in Marseille about a month ago. I even posted it in the Rare Pictures topic and RayWiki.

Ok, I edited my post, Ad. Sorry for that. However I had clear that everything was confidential, so I never really got into details and just mentioned what I suggested to you a few weeks ago. I didn't think that would bother you, because I never mentioned what you were going to do with "that". Whatever... everything is edited already.
Adsolution wrote: right up until Sergio decided to vomit on his keyboard... right on cue too.
Eh... okay. Don't take it personal, Ad, I never went for a killer argument to shut you up, I was just playing around. Of course you can do whatever you want with RoTD, you know more than anyone that I respect your project and the dedication that you put on it. Just... let us speculate, I know it's pointless, but for some people, including me, it's a good way to waste time.

I know sometime ago someone posted a complex speculation about the plot of Rayman Legends, involving an old guy with the ability to bring paintings to life who had 5 daughters, one of them being Barbara. It was ridiculous and pointless, but I found myself enjoying it. Why? because it was fun... unproductive, but fun.
