Hmm, my apologies in advance if it does turn out to be the case.

I guess it'd be best to back things up if we're messing this deeply.

No, it's grand! :P

So just swapping the folders is a no-no then. There are probably a number of reasons for this.

Ah well, it was a cheap shot anyways. But it'd been nice to have worked.

So, back to square one then.

Non-humanly readable? Is this because it's encrypted?

I wonder if there's a way to find out the decryption method... I mean, there's people hacking stuff like banks and military facilities, so surely one simple game shouldn't be that hard.

I don't deny that there's people who probably have the skill to pull this off, but despite our best efforts, I don't think we're up to scratch.

I don't know if compiling a map is comparable to encryption. Or maybe it's just a potato/potahto thing! :P

Let's see, Half-Life was made about the same time and decompiling its maps produces obfuscated files that need to be extensively manually edited to turn them back into something that will recompile cleanly. Rayman 2 had the added restriction of needing to fit on an N64 cartridge, so maybe its maps are even less decompile-able.

I think we're trying to find a way into the models?

I'm trying to figure out what kind of level format they had. Getting into it would be another matter, but it would be nice if it were possible.

Hmm, this is all getting rather interesting indeed, I do wish I could be of more use though. But even so, you have my support.

Done. (Even though I'm not a huge fan of either Microsoft or instant messaging. :P)

Neat, you were able to get out of bounds and find where the chamber cutscene is?

Actually he teleported there by accident while trying to make Rayman fly.

I see, I vaguely remember something to do with the Crow's Nest being a source of inspiration for Beyond Good and Evil.

I think IMHO that there is nothing "neat". Excuse me guys, but he just accessed a "cutscene-map". It's just the map used for the Razorbeard cutscenes, it's possible even in Rayman 2 to get to that cutscene with a moonjump.

I'm aware of the fact, what I found "neat" was the fact that it was done in Revolution.
