+ I'm about to eat some delicious sushi and see Monster's University. It probably won't be very good, but I'm sure it'll be a delight to see a prequel to one of my favourite Pixar movies. It looks like it should have some good, funny moments in it. Plus, I'm looking forward to seeing the characters rendered using 2013 technology. There's been a lot of improvements in that field since 2001; I watched the original film a few days ago in preparation, and I was surprised when I noticed that most of the rough textures (which would be displaced even in modern realtime games) were completely flat, and the lighting, while very nice and colourful, looked roughly PS3-quality, and very inaccurate and plastic compared to today's standards. Apparently they gave Boo pigtails because actual hair would be too intensive to physicalise; now look at us! If one miniscule hair on someone's skin doesn't react accordingly, it's considered a cheap production.

What did you think of Sully's fur? I thought it was done pretty nicely, especially for the time. I went to a Pixar expo the other day and they showed that they'd actually made a short film with birds in it just before working on Monsters Inc. so they could experiment with feathers and fur and stuff.
I'm probably also going to watch it relatively soon; I didn't feel much for it at first, but since I've been to the expo, I'm dying to see another one of their films to see if I can see some of their ways of the trade in action again.

It was surprisingly good, actually, it kind of stood out in a good way.
