I can give you two examples: the Cages have the eyes upside down and the Prison Ship's Robo-Pirates logos are mirror flipped in a very wierd way. I can even take snapshots for the sake of evidence.

Same thing happens in Rayman 3 HD unfortunately. It seems UbiSoft can't seem to make any good ports of their games, now.

Man I can't even tell how many times I've played through this game, on all different consoles atleast more than once. I most likely played through this game possibly 50 times. Not much games share this replay value to me. Infact all the Rayman games have good replay value apart from Origins and Legends, I can't bring myself to play through the game again. Like I said earlier once, it kinda lost something when coming into the O/L era.

Haha, awesome! I'd say I've listened to its soundtrack around about the same amount of times - probably double or three times if you count how often I play its songs on the piano. ;D
But playing the actual game, I think I've done it around 15-20 times now. It stands alone in my memory of games capable of drawing me to do that.

I thought Origins had great replay value. when I get a vita its going to be one of the first games I get so I can play the game all over again! :D

I remember one time playing through Rayman 2 three times in a row, getting the fastest time. I 100% completed it in 3 hours and 23 minutes on the PS1 version.
As for Origins and Legends they're great games don't get me wrong, but like I said it lost something, a certain charm for me. It could be the overdone sillyness or all the re-designs especially of Polokus. I have a feeling some people will agree on me with this but this is a Rayman 2 topic after all.

Hmm, I guess it depends. I think Rayman 2 is probably more replay friendly due to how fast it can be beaten if you know what you're doing.

I think it's more replay friendly because it's so varied. Every level brings an entirely different atmosphere, adventure, gameplay trick or mechanic or story plot. It doesn't repeat itself, ever - it does come back on some themes, but never gets repetitive. It's one of the key reasons why I think it's such a fantastic game.

Why is it that bad? I didn't know about it until someone pointed it out, and I still even with knowledge of the issue haven't been able to locate the flipped textures in question. I think a lot of people just really want to hate any and all ports of Rayman 2. If we're going to be so picky, I might as well say that the Dreamcast version is awful compared to the PC version because it doesn't even have the Hall of Doors, the atmospheric core of the game - neither does the 3DS version, yet somehow, a few almost undetectable texture flips are given the centre of attention, because apparently the Hall being replaced with the Isle is okay in the "untouchable rib of God" that is the Dreamcast version or something.

I don't like the DC version for its Isle of Doors. It's so lame in comparison to the Hall. But maybe I'm interpreting 'flipped textures' the wrong way. I'm imagining seeing textures that are supposed to be mirrored against each other so it creates symmetry not being mirrored, completely ruining the visuals, but that's not what we're talking about here?

Just a few UVs overall are mirrored (which doesn't cause the issur you described) which apparently also includes some mirrored text on some textures that contain text, but I can't even think of a single texture in the game that has any ledgible text, making the complaint seem almost entirely pointless to me.

I'm sorry, but there's nothing in the statement I did that affirms that I hate the port. And I'm talking about technical elements, not in-game elements.

I will take the screenshots to see if I make myself more clear in what I'm talking about.

EDIT: OK, I admit I was mistaking by saying they were mirrored, but I wasn't wrong about the flipped term. Instead of mirrored, I should say "messed up". I have here two examples:

This is in the Prison Ship. You might need to zoom a little to notice but see how the Pirate Skull became cyclopic and the eye pupils (along with the missing middle of the shape are discretely placed in the left and right sides of the picture.

This is other example with every cage in the game. It is barely noticible at first galance but the texture is upside down. Also, more eyes in the side?

Or I'm very picky about the texture mapping, or I have eagle eyes to notice small visual mistakes (modesty apart).

Don't get me wrong by the way, I think Rayman 3D was a nice port knowing how old the original game is, at least it was by far better executed than Rayman DS. I don't think I was the one that was ranting about the Rayman 2 ports now and before so it is most likely to be a mistake.

I don't find Rayman 2 to have that much of a great replay value at all, unless starting a whole new file which doesn't appeal to me. It's a shame the game never replays cutscenes nor lets the player replay bosses (a problem Rayman 1 has). And the game for sure is pretty easy and I haven't played it fully in 4 years, not challenging but still fun in its own right.

Why you gotta be hatin' on my favorite world map? :v I think the Isle is neat since it's basically a little 3D
map with cool details here and there.

I also enjoy more the Hall of Doors. From all the videogames I've played, this is for me one of the most original and atmospherical level hubs that I've seen.
