THat's good. I know how to play power chords between the G and B strings as well. That's a bit more difficult.

Yeah. Barre chords are some of the toughest stuff in guitar technique. For now, learn as many open chords as you can, both major and minor, and try to improve transition between them. I'd also suggest trying riffs, because they'll improve your fretting skills as well as your picking.
