Thanks everyone! :) There is one thing though:

Not a vertex on the model was touched. It's simply better rendering.

Indeed though, I'm using him as my new signature. I'd like to create about four or five different colours with different characters and have them randomly cycle, but that would involve changing the text as well, something I don't feel like figuring out. For now, I'll just keep this as my new signature for a while.

Lol I remember reading that, too. Dummy forgot the sentence as soon as he read it!
What a difference a good render can make.

By text you mean the quote under your sig, no? Yeah that'd be hard to get to synch up well with your picture, if they both randomly cycle. Maybe add the quote in your different sigs as an image, so it cycles with the image?

The magician is still pretty good even if you said you haven't been improving a lot on this model in 2 years.

And this sig is awsum :D

I was fiddling around with that really old Magician model I made about two years ago, and I tried out some of my new rendering techniques on it.

I haven't improved the model at all, it's still shabby, I just learned how to render hair and have improved my shading in general.
Looks great, and so does that new signature.

I had forgotten to mention this before, so I'll say it right now: seeing the Magician rendered in this form blew me away. You are right in saying the model still needs work, but it's still very impressive. I can wait to see more progress. :)

I noticed you changed your signature, it looks pretty nice!

At this rate you'll make Magician's hair work like Meridah in PIXAR's Brave. :mryellow:

Hahah, you never know what'll happen once custom shaders are in the picture. :mryellow:

I've finally managed to physicalise the grass, so that it moves out of the way and such when you touch it:

For no fucking reason I felt like dubbing over a Radiohead song with my own stupid lyrics wrote:Running through the grass
Running through the grass
Getting thorns up my ass
Release me
Release me

Cut the grass in half
Cut the grass in half
Dropping rocks down a hill on the grass
Release me
On CryEngine 3

You need to consider doing a record.

Once again, very impressive work so far, Ad. And that music did put a smile on my face.

Those stones you are rolling down the slope really looks like the ones that are falling down when you ride the shell in Rayman 2.

I believe they're called Menhirs, hence the title of the level; The Menhir Hills.

Yes Raymanni, that's because they are, like Master said. Also:

Hey Ad...
There is something I wanna ask you.. You wrote that Moskito was Rayman's first close friend, but wasn't Moskito the bad guy and Bzzit the friend?

Well, in my view, Moskito and Bzzit are interchangeable names, and the one seen in Moskito's nest is Dark Moskito, essentially Moskito/Bzzit under Mister Dark's control. All the other bosses were under his control, so it seems normal to me at least that we can assume the tragic music playing while he carries the spiky fruit is due to the notion of him turning against you, but the shifted pallet is similar to that of Dark Rayman's.

Also:

I spent about six hours today out in the hot sun foleying over two-hundred sound effects, most of them being footsteps. Even though the video only showcases a small portion of them, here's the complete list of everything I've foleyed today:

Materials:
- Grass
- Stone
- Wood
- Pebbles
- Carpet

Within each material:
- Running footsteps
- Walking footsteps
- Strafing footsteps
- Soft fall landings
- Hard fall landings

To get an idea how much variation there is, just within the grass strafing foley, there are over fifteen different possible sound effects.
If anyone actually wants to use the footstep sounds for anything, I can send a ZIP to them once I'm done separating the five materials.

I sometimes wonder how certain footstep audio files are created, like the ones you commonly hear on metal grates.

It all leads back to the body-breaking sounds in Halo being created by bashing cabbage with a metal pipe. Classic!

For instance, the running-on-grass (not strafing) sounds I made by picking a few weeds, putting them in a pile and tapping them with my fingers. For some others I put shoes on my hands to get just the right articulation, and for others (such as the landing sounds), I simply recorded myself jumping.

That doesn't explain why you drink with your nose though.
