In fairness, Globox just tells you to "use your magic fist", but Murfy doesn't tell you which button to press until after you already escaped. I remember pressing random buttons the first time I played, trying desperately to get the fist going!

I suppose it's an RTFM thing, but then what's the point in having Murfy explain it in-game at all?

Murfy also waits until you already fought a pirate in the Dreamcast version before he explains you may have to fight them. He also tells you that you already figured out how to use the plum and walking shell, then proceeds to explain how you use them anyway.

When Murfy appears just to tell you "Git gud".

When you misspell Murfy as “Muffy”

When you never remember if Murfy's name is spelled "Murfy" or "Murphy".
Seriously, I keep switching between the two names without even noticing.

Good point, I hadn't thought of it that way. I think what they did with the plum was very interesting. They force you to figure it out for yourself, even sending Kapouehs after you to force you to shoot so the plum moves the opposite way. Then Murfy explains it to you, so you can theoretically go back and use the plum to explore other parts of the level. Of course, they kind of messed it up, in that it's not at all obvious how to go back at that point. I never understood why they implemented that T-junction in such a weird way.
Getting back to the point, either way, I think it would have been very helpful to have Globox say "press space". He even says it in the Canopy, so why not say it in the Prison Ship?

And you know you suck at Rayman when Globox takes the Silver Lum himself and breaks you out because he doesn't think you're capable of using the fist properly.

I think the other versions have Murfy explain it first, but that extra pirate is on one of the crates in the Dreamcast version. Still though, I remember the Menhir Hills, you're only told you may be able to tame the shell, but after you figure out yourself that you need to cross the nettles, then cross to the other side and need to figure out by yourself to jump off in time, Murfy just shows up and says something along the lines of "great, you managed to figure out how to use the shell", as he proceeds to explain how to use it anyway.

Also, I just realised that so many Murfy quotes are missing from Rayman 2 on the English RayWiki, and after looking at the French page, I think it might be better to organise the English one in a similar fashion (quotes for PS1, PC/DC, and PS2 all under separate headings).

Anyway, you know you suck at Rayman when you manage to walk around under the water in the Fairy Glade.

When you can't score in TLOTLD with the Podocrocks because they're invincible.

When Rayman Ultimate is the ultimate time you'll play Rayman.
