Has anyone gotten to see any of the northern lights going on? One of my friends from Indiana did.
I'm way too far south to see it with my bare eyes, which with a camera you can actually get a visual on it, if it's nice and dark out.

Way too cloudy here for me to have any chance. Don't think it's going to be letting up anytime soon either...

It's just raining non-stop here. I wouldn't be able to see anything anyway.

Aww, that bites man! I'm sure we'll be in for days like that with the season shift.

That's about like what a co-worker showed me, that he was able to get with his phone!

Yeah, unless you can beam the clouds away.
I'll see if there's a chance I can see it tonight, I'll either use my phone or Canon DSLR for it.

Best of luck! I would like to see an aurora at some point in my life, but I doubt I'll have much chance unless I went to Scotland and got lucky.

I'd probably have had a higher chance in Sweden than here.

My luck is I'll forget as I'll probably be invested in a game project for my friend's birthday.

So we apparently have yellow wind warnings for tomorrow along with orange rain ones. For a change, it's actually in the south-east of the country, which means it affects where I am too. Usually it's the south-west or west. Plum likely escapes this one with less damage, it's my turn.
-- EDIT --
Then again, not really. You still get a yellow warning. Well, at least it's not orange!

Jinkies, more of it? Last night I had to drive home on inundated roads, and today I saw the old River Shannon (which normally only gets 10 m³/s flow) through the university campus had burst its banks!

We've been getting a ridiculous amount of rain in Dublin the past few days as well, I'm used to the south and west unfortunately getting the worst of everything due to how we always get south-west winds. This time we are getting the worst of the rain though.
Seems this time you are only getting the yellow warning for rain, but we also get a yellow wind warning in conjunction with the orange rain warning.

Here's the thing: Normally the "old" River Shannon only gets 10 m³/s flow, because that's what the ESB are legally obliged to send down that way. But now there's so much rain that the power plant at Ardnacrusha is at capacity, so all the excess is getting sent down the old channel. Yesterday it was 50 m³/s, and apparently today it was 126 m³/s, though I didn't get a chance to see how that looked. It made me realize that some parts of the university are built stupidly near what used to be river area before they built the hydroelectric scheme

That definitely doesn't sound ideal.
It has just been very windy all day and pretty much rained a fair amount too. The wind has been blowing in the wrong direction entirely as well, I believe it's a north-east wind instead of a south-west. This explains why the west isn't getting hammered as much as usual. It's evident with it blowing towards the back of our house instead of the front for once, though the issue is that's the direction that usually makes feel very cold.
I'm also seeing that within the coming days, the temperatures are supposed to plummet, and they're even forecasting snow in some areas.

Seems to be a similar story here, although the winds weren't quite as heavy. I am always a bit iffy when it comes to snow forecasts, many a time has snow been prophesised, but failed to materialised. But it being prime conditions for snow does mean it's going to be more chilly, which means I'm probably going to have to start digging deeper into the sweater/hoodie reserves. I've also gotten some more beanies for the season too.

Yeah the snow that we have is never usually quite what they claim (it hardly ever does snow here). I did have a fair bit of snow in February 2018, around the time I joined here. That was hectic by our standards. It's ok in the likes of Sweden since they are prepared for it, and they even use winter tyres along with having the grit in places where it's needed etc. We really are not ready for heavy snow, probably because it barely ever happens.

T-shirt and shorts weather, eh?
No in reality it’s pretty cold, just I went out to work wearing only a t shirt and shorts because I didn’t want to make my hoodie smell from all the frying happening in the kitchen and I was burning to make a joke like that.

Well it's at least not raining anymore. I don't look forward to the cold we'll be getting though.

In my country, it's mostly cloudy, it has rained before thanks to a supertyphoon weeks ago.

It's really cold today where I am. I mean, it dropped SHARP. From 80 high yesterday...To 40. 40 is the high today.
Thankfully It'll climb back up in the coming days, but yeah, I'm gonna have to stay in today. No way am I raking leaves in these temps.

Yeah it got like that here too. Obviously our temps are not quite as low as Scandinavian countries, but it's quite cold for our standards. It was -3 Celsius during the night, and it was a very frosty morning.
