There's also the BONK thread which shouldn't even exist.

Surely not! And yet, we would never have broken our record the last few years without it…

I wonder what a newcomer would think of the OT forum if he joined today.

Would probably think it was a great place, and end up with considerable sanctions for continuing the behaviour for another week!

Not a huge fan of it either. But we'd already decided to close the bomb and both word-to-words for this record so we just kept it open. Maybe next year?

Yup, I already made a start on that by bumping some of the normal threads when RD had finished.

I don't particularly like the BONK thread, although more so because the funny posts die after 15-20 mins but due to its TYG-tier post boost you're almost kinda obligated to use it if you wanna break big records. I might skip out on spamming it up next year because it felt more like a nuisance than fun near the end. I thought the BONK acronyms were pretty memey though.

I'm surprised Off Topic isn't a more popular thread during RD, I noticed the In My Pants eventually just turned into general discussion with "in my pants" thrown at the end of every post.

Yeah, I think the problem comes with a need for creativity. When you're posting for hours on end, coming up with sufficiently creative posts is a daunting task. I think Serz and I did try to encourage some modicum of creativity, but even so, I know some of mine were just sentences with a BONK peppered in.

Maybe we could try to make up rules for the BONK thread? No idea what though.

Here's one : anyone who posts in the BONK thread during Record Day shall participate in a Super Bonk livestream for charity through Brad's podcast (which hopefully will be around next year) Oh please don't hurt me, that was merely a joke >_<
