Be careful on a laptop purchase Master, buying a really high end gaming laptop performance wise can be really risky. My brother just got a $1000 laptop that lags on some areas of TF2. Sure, a little lag isn't bad, but for $1000 on a source game? That's bad. So be REALLY careful in a purchase, and I recommend going for the most expensive option since laptops aren't really considered more for gaming then PC's.
Indeed I agree Tech, that's what fascinated me so much about that game

Absolutely Rayfist, for gaming on laptops, you should either pick an Alienware laptop or stick to a PC. That's because a regular laptop is a little risky, because they cant run things like TF2 that well.

Hell, buying a laptop in general these days is a minefield. In my experience, many come so stuffed with bloatware that it would take a hard-drive wipe and OS reinstall just to get them to perform nicely out of the box.

Why is brand loyalty a thing? There are plenty of laptops that have equivelent or better specs to Alienware's lineup, which is what is really important when getting
Completely hypocritically, though, I'd recommend the Origin brand, but I have a specific reason for doing so: Origin laptops are rediculously customizable, and allow you to basically build your own machine from the ground up, allowing to build one to perfectly fit your needs and budget. The Razer Blade is also nice if you want something more mobile, but you shouldn't get it otherwise since it's less powerful than Origin's lineup, and a bit more expensive.

Not been playing any games other than League of Legends recently as I'm working on developing one of my own. I am planning on playing some Rayman Legends when I get back home to my computer, though.

I bought a new laptop some months ago. It's a MSI worth $1400 but I got it for $1000. I have nothing to complain about right now, as I can play an incredible amount of games with their settings set high with it. Outside of a grippy Shift Key and that it's not poweful enough to record absolutely flawlessly game sessions (but it's still doing a great job), it was completely worth it.
You think desktop PCs are better than laptops for gaming? Of course they are, even if you buy the best gaming laptop. But laptops are built and designed for mobility. I bought a laptop because I'm really mobile due to my current studies and the fact I'm not at home anymore. Moreover I don't even have a driving license, maknig it even harder to transport a tower if I had one. Therefore, this laptop was almost a necessity for me to buy, as my previous one was starting to show signs of weakness.
Indeed, I would recommend to take your time about choosing an expensive laptop. I took a good month to weigh the decision of choosing between a desktop and a laptop (even if having a desktop would have been an issue at some point). And to choose my laptop after that.

I have a non-Alienware laptop that can run any modern PC game I've thrown at it (in a playable format, often times with the highest settings and a very stable frame rate):

For example, running TF2 is a piece of cake for it.
A custom built PC would still be best in terms of raw power, without question, but having a laptop that can facilitate playing my PC games, my game development needs (using UDK, 3D Modelling programs, etc), my video production needs, etc, is really nifty, since I can bring it anywhere. I bring it in to college all of the time. So if you're like me and are going to be out of the house a lot but still want to play PC games while away from home or want to work on some things, I highly recommend this laptop.

Got my hands on a copy of both Rayman 2 and Rayman Legends for PC. Haven't played Rayman Legends up until now as I couldn't really purchase anything for a while, but now I'll probably play the crap out of it.

I was slightly bored last night and so I listed every game I can remember playing here:
http://www.backloggery.com/byvar
I probably forgot some, but it's a good attempt. As you can see I'm currently playing Paper Mario 2, NieR and the Witcher, among others.
I'm near the end of Paper Mario 2 and I changed my mind about it. The writing is actually pretty great once you get past the first few worlds. I absolutely loved the part in Glitzville (the arena) and the train part. The music is good but not as memorable as the first game's music for me.
My niece is a huge Mario fan, and she comes over once in a while to play. I finished Super Paper Mario with her, but while I enjoyed that game, I found all the switching between characters, pixl's and dimensions really frustrating. There were also some areas that were just way too long/big for no reason, often with repeated graphics - a very cheap way of expanding areas.
We're now playing Super Mario RPG and quite enjoying that game.
The music is amazing - very memorable! But I guess that's to be expected of Yoko Shimomura, who proved her skills many times with Legend of Mana, the Kingdom Hearts series and soon with Final Fantasy XV

Finished all my homework for Community college so I decided to relax and play a few 3DS games.
I haven't played Project X Zone in ages and holy shit I totally forgot how fucking long this game was. The game has 40 chapters so it's pretty huge, I'm on Chapter 29. I usually never like strategy games but for some reason I love this and it could probably get me into other strategy games, like Fire Emblem.

Fuck yes. I hope you're playing it on an actual SNES, best experience. I've seen the common complaint that a lot of people didn't like it because it felt too much like a Final Fantasy game than Mario (which makes sense since it IS made by Square enix) and some people really hated the isometric view, but I for one, fucking loved it, one of the best RPG's on the SNES next to Final Fantasy VI

Currently playing Donkey Kong Country on the SNES emulator. I will be downloading more SNES ROMs when I get around to it.

And buy some Razer merch, of course.
Currently playing Star Wars : Republic Commando. This game was already awesome when it was released back in 2005, though that now the MP is gone, the Solo Player mode feels very short (and it is).
I will also play some Star Wars : Battlefront II, and then start the Dragon Age series. I wanted to play the MP so badly at Pax...

I just finished Paper Mario 2! I loved the final boss and the ending, but [
I didn't like that they dragged it out a bit with Goombella talking about what everyone was doing and how everyone miraculously survived]. Overall, the writing was quite funny and the gameplay was good, although they tended to stretch it out at some points, like [
all the running between Twilight Town and Creepy Steeple, and going through every part of the world to find General White who'd just left every time you arrived somewhere]. The good more than outweighed the bad though, so it was still a great experience.

Sadly, I don't have a SNES. I'm playing it on a SNES emulator on my Wii, with the Gamecube controller. It works flawlessly.

It's a great game, and it does feel a lot like a Final Fantasy game, but I think that's quite a compliment!

Also, have you played Chrono Trigger? Final Fantasy VI was a masterpiece, but Chrono Trigger was
the best SNES RPG for me.

With this more powerful machine, I've finally been able to check out Black Mesa, and I can tell that they don't make shooters like they used to, I've been trounced by it many-a-time thus far.
Decided to also finally check out Left 4 Dead 2 which I nabbed some time ago as a freebie, also gotten trounced, but hopefully I'll get the hang of it in due time.

Black Mesa… I tried that once. Let me tell you, playing it on Normal was much more frustrating than playing the original on Hard (which I did for the first time last week BTW). I suppose I could give it another try now that I have this new PC (though I suppose a better graphics card would be in order!

). I'm guessing the lag was part of what caused the frustration for me.

Naw man. Earthbound is by far the best SNES RPG. But Chrono Trigger was pretty awesome as well, I hope to get it someday for sure.
