Q27. This PC platformer shoot-em-up developed in Poland in the early 1990s features a cyborg main character, looking a lot like another popular culture cyborg. The game is notoriously difficult, being a 1-hit kill. What game am I talking about?
Some hints as it seems hard:
- The game was released under similar but slightly different names in Poland versus the rest of the world
- One phrase you are most likely to hear a lot (every time you get killed) is "We have to be careful. This is an emergency area."
Final hints!
* The "popular culture cyborg" the main character looks like is
RoboCop.
* The game was published worldwide by Epic Megagames, as part of a 3-game bundle.

No idea about that, but just for the sake of not letting the topic die, let's try with a wild guess and say Cyberpunk (not sure if that even exists, but hopefully CD Projekt had a different name before

)

Well, no. There was no DOS game under the name of Cyberpunk by a Polish studio.
However, there was one called Electro Body / Electro Man.
And if you knew that and understood the hints, you would be half way to answering the replacement question:
Q27a. Name two DOS games which can be considered clones of Boulder Dash, the classic dirt-rock-diamond maze puzzle game.

Not sure if they're considered clones (similar = clone?), but I'd say Emerald mines and Supaplex!

I would say they are both clones! However, as far as I could find, Emerald Mine was never released for DOS.
You may amend your answer.

Mmm... Let's say Supaplex and Rockford?

That works for me! Indeed there are a ton of games that could be used here. The one I hinted at was
Heartlight, which was sold in a bundle with Electroman and Robbo.

Q28. The words Crepusculum, Nox and Umbra are all related to shadow, darkness and the daily cycle. In which game will you find characters such named?
Bonus Question 2: Other than being games released on the PC in the 1990s, what do all of the following titles have in common?
Descent, Descent II, Earthworm Jim, Heroes of Might and Magic, Heroes of Might and Magic II, Norse by Norsewest: the Return of the Lost Vikings, Mortal Kombat 3, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Quake, Warcraft II.
Some hints for Bonus Question 2:
- The common to all games is that they have both something and something else.
- There is a reason why EWJ1 is in the list but EWJ2 isn't.
- Similarly there is a reason why Warcraft 2 is included but not Warcraft 1.
- Doom and its sequel could also reasonably be listed.

Heh, I’d definitely recommend it if you’re big on artsy games and Final Fantasy style role playing. Personally I didn’t completely attach to it but I might pick it up sometime in the future again

Well, for someone who hasn't played a single minute, that was a mighty good guess.

If you knew this one - how come you didn't guess first?

The funny thing is I'm
not big of this style of games, and yet I insisted on playing
Child of Light beginning to end and found it quite enjoyable!
And after a long time - we have a tie at the top!

In the final boss, which is on the level 5-10, you play on the roof map, during nighttime, with only 3 rows of potted plants. Crazy Dave warns you of Dr Zomboss and tries to tell you how to defeat him, before being taken away by a bungee zombie, before a giant robot then walks into the screen. The boss battle then starts. A conveyor belt sends you a variety of plants, which includes cabbage pults, kernel pults, melon pults, potted plants, Jalapeno's, and Ice shrooms. Zomboss start by summoning zombies, with the zombies sent starting off easy, and progressively getting harder. Zomboss can also spawn bungee zombies that steal your plants. He also has another attack where he throws a van at the plants, but this only appears later in the fight. After around 30 seconds, Zomboss will lower the giant robot's head, which allows you to attack him. He will then spawn either a giant ice ball or giant flame ball. These roll down the lane they're spawned in, and destroy every plant in the lane (including potted plants). These can be destroyed using ice shrooms for the flame ball and jalapeno for the ice ball. The effects from these two plants also effect Zomboss, but only when his head is lowered. When he is defeated, you gain a trophy, along with 5(?) diamonds. After this, the credits roll.
