I don't have a save state. Ask Omar about help with savefiles, he knows better. Maybe he knows why this doesn't work. Can anyone else confirm if file works or doesn't?
It’s probably my mistake – looks like InternalBackupRAM.bin doesn’t contain any save data.
Try looking somewhere in the Backup folder. It should contain the save file.
I’ve run into a weird issue: Mr. Dark’s Dare doesn’t want to load (just goes back to the title screen)
Other levels load fine.

That's because it's already beaten. You can't access it again after the game was beaten. That's also with all other versions ...(not sure about the jaguar though...)

you can on the DSi because it never registers as you having beaten it, other than unlocking the appropriate achievements.

It actually didn’t look like the game knew it was beaten – it actually brought me back to the title screen, just as if it were improperly configured.

Unfortunately, I don’t have the DSi version.

Apparently holding up (for moving right) or down (for moving left) when you jump off a Ring makes this happen (and I'm orgasmic wondering exactly how many minutes this is going to save in a run in total)...
Nice! I've been fooling around with this and it definitely opens up a lot of possibilities for speedrunning.

Yep, going to buy it as soon as the PS Vita version comes out.

yeah, the US ones are extremely primitive
EDIT:

Going back to the bosses, it's so effing stupid that you get fight the boss only once. ONCE!
Hey, maybe I want to replay a boss? Ever thought of that? Screw you Rayman 1 and 2 and your dumb decisions in gameplay.

But they're the best games in the universe so it's fine

Credit where it's due though, I think R1 and R3 have the best boss battles in the series. R2's bosses are probably the weakest, followed by RO's then RL's. Either ways, yeah, boss replayability would be nice.

I like the idea of chronology being a factor in not being able to replay a boss; you beat the Guardian; he's dead. But then revisiting some levels and having doors reshut and the likes as if you've travelled back in time, that doesn't fit in that theory, so that's plain weird.

Rayman 1 and 2? Best games in the universe?

That's the fatal flaw in Rayman 2, beside the hand holding. There is no replay value. After you beat the game, the levels become barren and boring.

Well, that's not really a flaw, that's just how the game was designed. I don't really know what they could have done to change that aside from changing the core gameplay itself.

I think a boss rush mode in a R1 remake would be pretty neat, though I don't think R2s bosses are worthwhile enough for one.
