Well he's always spent most of each adventure collecting valuable items. I suppose it's an interesting critique of Rayman and platforming hero characters in general.

Most games want you to collect things in able to do pretty much anything. Are game companies promoting hoarding as a valuable trait...?

Yes.

They are promoting the accumulation of capital as an end in itself, as part of their plan to further cement bourgeoise ideology amongst those who suffer under it.

That would make it way harder to work into the game, what would Jano tempt him with? A bed?
Then again when he got his gold, it's not like he played with it, he just kind of slept... Which just furthers your theory, so maybe it is but they could't find a way to implement it...

Hmm, Rayman 2 Ray always seemed to be the least self-confident incarnation of Rayman, I wonder if that's one of his fears.

Gluttony is also evident in the alternate ending, with Rayman growing obese. Maybe that's what really happened, and everything since Rayman left the cave has been a dream.

It is the Glade of Dreams, after all...
I just wonder how he managed to get obese there on that tiny island. Did he digest metal?

Rewatching it, it's clear that he's teleported directly from the cave to the island. The obesity is imposed instantly, just like the treasure and the isolation.

Oh, you could've humoured me, Spiral.
So Rayman wants to be chronically obese, have lots of money in a useless pile and a tiny island he can't move around on? Seems to me like an allegory for the evils of static wealth. Those French communists.

Eh does someone have a list of all levels that a plum appears in Rayman 2 and where?

Hmm, from the top of my head, Fairy Glade, Sanctuary of Stone and Fire and the Echoing Caves. Not very much, in retrospect.

Anyone know of a fix for a "missing CD" bug that's popping up when I'm at the Echoing caves in the PC version? I've tried 2 patches so far and they don't seem to work.

Hey Bzzit, that Glitch is known as the "Skull Glitch". There were several patches for that but none of them fixed the glitch completely. How old is your Rayman 2 version? Do you play with an original CD?

If you have bought the game you could just pirate the GOG version, which is guaranteed to work.
