I got this cake for my birthday, I think it's pumpkin? I was confused by the grapes at first, but once I had it... good lord, it's so tasty. I never thought grapes would add such an amazing accent, it's my favourite cake I've ever had
Looks tasty, hope you enjoyed it!
Sweden has a cake called smörgåstårta (sandwich cake). I actually think it's tasty, and it qualifies as food because it's literally made of sandwich stuff. Hoodoo and I made one for my birthday 2 years ago, and the fact that you have grapes on this one reminded me of it.

Oh now this is an interesting cake. Is that shrimp in the middle though?

Yeah this was shrimp. Swedish people actually have these types of cakes at stores. They don't specifically have all the same stuff and usually not grapes, but we were just improvising to decorate it. It's basically just sandwiches layered together to make a cake, literally bread slices.

Well I'm really curious about that one, specially with the shrimps and lunch meat combined there. How do you fill the bread slices?

Yes I do wonder what kinds of filling are sandwiched in between the bread slices, I wonder if it can vary between layers. Like smoked salmon filling in one layer and avocado in another?

It's basically like this yeah. It mentions having salmon filling between layers, then avocado on another layer. I recall using mayonnaise between slices too when we made one.

Our dessert tonight. It isn't a cake, but it's one of my favourite ones

Exactly

. I know how to cook a coffee flan too, but the turrón flan is better imo

Did anyone else notice we haven’t revived this topic for RD 2024 yet?

Well I think I could have bumped this myself with something meaningful.

Yeah Sweden literally has what they call a sandwich cake. In reality it's just a sandwich mountain and I though it was interesting because it's so different from what we have. It was definitely interesting having one of those for my birthday instead of a casual cake.

That's understandable if it seems strange to you. I didn't think it tasted bad either way, but it's clear people over there have different food than I do. As mentioned, the typical food we have in a deli in the morning is nothing like that, and they don't associate anything fried with breakfast like we would in the UK and Ireland either.

Ok so you won’t have a problem if I gave you a cake with shrimp in it?
