Re: Rayman 1

It was used in the breakout minigame, so it would seem Rayman Advance just took everything straight out of the PC version and remade it for the GBA without removing the things they didn't use
Sometimes keyboards don’t like it when more than two keys at once are pressed.TFDs39 wrote:So, I started playing Rayman 1 on PC again. Everything's fine, but I can't figure something out.
While crawling in the left direction, I can easily turn right by pressing the right key (while holding "down" and "jump", of course). However, this doesn't work the other way round for turning left. I try pressing the left key while crawling right, but nothing happens. Does anybody know how it has to be done?
Yeah, messing with the location of the LEV files can be pretty fun. The real madness starts when you mess with the WLD files though.Carrot-master wrote:I played around a bit with the effects in Rayman 1 by swapping levels and I managed to get Eat at Joe's without the dark effect and other levels with it instead as the effects are not located in the .LEV files

They are the files for the worlds, just like how LVL files are for the levels. I haven't analyzed them, but I can tell that they are the ones that control several events based on the number of each level, as well as containing the sprites, sound effects etc. (obviously).Carrot-master wrote:Oh, what do the .WLD files contain? I've experienced the events being wrong and backgrounds having wrong colors when swapping .LVL files between worlds which completely messed up the game, that was pretty fun
You can change the order of levels in their respective world, but importing them from other worlds will result in completely messed up levels, due to them reading a different WLD file. Therefore, no, you can't mix levels from different worlds and still have them working fine.Raymanni wrote:Can you move levels from world to world if you just rename them or would they even work in that case?
Wouldn't it be possible though if you swapped the correct WLD file as well? For example, let's say you wanted to get Dream Forest lvl1 to Band Land lvl1, can't you then afterwards swap RAY1.WLD with RAY2.WLD and get the maps to read the correct info? Sure, it would most certainly mess up the rest of the levels, though it should work with the levels you swapped if I understand this correctly.TFDs39 wrote:You can change the order of levels in their respective world, but importing them from other worlds will result in completely messed up levels, due to them reading a different WLD file. That's not possible with levels from other worlds in any easy manner as TFDs39 mentioned before, the dark effect probably lies in one of the .WLD files, most likely RAY5.WLD if I got the numbering right. In that case there are two possibilities, both which won't work. The first is to move a level from another world to RAY.LEV, which would mess up the backgrounds color palette as well as the events in the level. The second option would be to rename the .WLD file to the one corresponding to the world you'd want to put the dark effect in, which would mess it up in that world as it would put in the Cave worlds color palette and events there. This might however not be the case if the dark effect is not stored in the .WLD files, though it seems likely that's how it is.GOT4N wrote:Wait, I got an idea: finishing the game with full dark effect, wouldn't that be fun?
You can actually do that and the levels will run mostly fine. However, there will still be a few bugs that you might encounter.Carrot-master wrote:Wouldn't it be possible though if you swapped the correct WLD file as well? Your CD-ROM could be scratched. Wipe it with something. Also try enabling Diagnosis on your PS2. It adjusts your PS2 to read discs better.Thebananacrafter! wrote:When i play the PS1 version of Rayman on the PS2 The music stutters while the PS1 doesnt stutter.
