Yeah it’s the same case where I am!

I wonder then if it's just an international thing, in that case....

tfw you understand a concept when doing an assignment but when you watch the solution to the assignment, you think you did it all wrong.
Also tfw you think about responding to someone, and then realising they're probably joking. ;)

On a more serious note though, if you ever need to talk about things, feel free to anytime. Just make sure you use the right topic for it. ;)

Yee I know. I mean, I don’t like talking about such things a lot here, because I’m bothered by the fact that people here know me too well. It makes me feel vulnerable.

Understandable, I’m sure there are some things that you probably would want to keep private anyways. I personally have things that I’d prefer to keep a secret.

We're not that grouchy, topics shift a lot, but I guess they usually get back on track in the end and don't completely derail anyway. :P

tfw you want to buy stuff and keep putting it off even though you have the money.

I mean, I’m generally referring to the fact that authorities aren’t required to follow their own rules. It just feels kinda hypocritical to me.

For example, think of someone doing a certain thing. You try to do the same but you get scolded by the person who did it themselves. Isn’t that a bit unfair?

That is what annoys me about authority. I basically don’t like it when others can do more than me. It makes me feel inferior.

tfw you run system audio through a compressor.

We are required to follow our own rules too though, otherwise it would be hypocrisy, and we're not hypocrites. I certainly wouldn't have "scolded" you just for taking an interest in a topic, then having a little discussion about it. ;)

In my case, I found it interesting that Jonster doesn't have to pay a deposit for a trolley, so I had a brief discussion with him about it. I'm pretty sure that's warranted, considering it is a discussion forum after all. Rest assured that if you had done the same I most certainly wouldn't have scolded you for it. It's only if the topic completely derails and goes haywire (maybe for almost a full page) that we would simply just say something like "let's get back on topic shall we", or maybe then suggest we move that current conversation to a more suitable thread. :)

Usually in those cases those people mean well, and they only want to keep things peaceful. People aren't monsters, and they usually just want to help. I guess some people might just abuse their power and act like assholes, in which case I would agree with what you're saying. We're not like that here though. :hap:

tfw you forget to do something that you were supposed to do ages ago. :oops2:

Yeah, I know you’re not that bad of a person, and I’m not calling anyone out.

It’s just a thought that has been bothering me for ages so I thought I’d vent it out here, because I’m sure nobody wants to keep steam in their heads.
I’m just really afraid of letting my thoughts out, because I honestly feel like my words are going to waste, or that people don’t take me for granted no matter what I say.

Sure, I may sound repetitive sometimes, but honestly my vocabulary’s rather bad.

tfw you boot a new Linux kernel and find everything running super slowly because the CPU got itself stuck on the lowest clock setting. :mefiant: I fixed (or worked around) the issue, but something's up with the P-State code on the 5.8 kernel, I'm pretty sure. :?

I'm way back on 5.5.3 apparently, but I wonder if it would still be messed up for me on an AMD CPU if I tried the later version.

I'm pretty sure it's just Intel code that's messed up.

What happened was, my kernel config specified "userspace" as the default Scaling Governor, but on older kernels it was automatically changing to "powersave" because, as noted here, the intel_pstate driver only supports "performance" and "powersave". That should automatically come into effect on Sandy Bridge and newer (including my Haswell). On 5.8.0, that no longer happens for me, so the "userspace" governor was actually being used, which meant the clock wasn't changing at all from its boot frequency because I wasn't giving it any directions from userspace. :P When I manually set it to "powersave", it was still stuck at boot frequency, which suggests that the CPU power management code just isn't working on Haswell atm. :? Setting it to "ondemand" fixed me up. :)

tfw this experience makes you realize that there's probably a similar reason for your work laptop's sluggishness, so on your first day back from a week off you switch the Windows power plan to "Balanced" (having been advised to set it to "Power saver" in the past in order to be "Green") and immediately notice the difference! :hap:
