Well, it's hard to compete with Jimmy Wales…
But then he's a libertarian, so how does he justify this?

Let's petition him then!

And ask him to stop the SEO of Wikia?

He's probably sold his shares a long time ago anyway. You know what, let's petition Google then.

Oh yeah, that'll get us far!

Let's just keep complaining to ourselves then, it's good to vent after all.

Well, while we're talking about challenges to our websites' popularity, how about RaySaves? Goddamn Rayman 2 saves, they have to be so awkward that hosting them is basically impossible!

Yeah, so I've heard. I've never looked into the matter myself and I'm still surprised that it's so hard. Maybe a small program could do the trick?

Possibly. IIRC there's a file that contains a list of saves, which is also how BG&E does it. Theoretically one could back up their own before downloading one from RaySaves, but that seems an awful waste. Given all the work that's been done on the OpenSpace engine lately, it might be possible to figure out the format of the index file and ship a program to edit it…

There's so much more to Rayman than Rayman 2 though. We could have emulator saves for all the console games, for example.

That's very true. Origins and Legends saves should be very easy too, but someone just needs to go and make them.

Origins is very straight forward and I know that because I've learned to back it up.

Of course someone might have to take over, because I'm not sure RibShark still has enough time to manage the website.

I remember I once had a Boost-based wxWidgets interface for managing my Rayman Legends saves, since the game itself only has one slot. That got wiped out when I accidentally erased much of my hard drive that time. I still have to rewrite that in Perl…

Btw, is there a way to comment on the news that are published on the main page? In some cases it can be useful, for example, when someone has questions about a contest that was announced. I wonder if it is possible to show the first post of a forum topic in the main page, however I guess that would require a new subsection to store all the news topics (like some forums do).

You can't comment directly on portal news, but there's often a linked thread or post on the forum. In the case of the latest news item, I posted about it
here.

I didn't know about that post, thanks for the link. Maybe for future news, a text (like "Comment here") with a link to the respective post/topic (if it exists) can be added at the end of the article. In some cases it can be redundant, but in others it could be helpful (specially if the post related to the news is within a topic with a different name). Just a suggestion though

.

We'll make sure there's at least one obvious link when relevant next time.

After I saw the
Rayman 2 storyboards, I was thinking that maybe (at some point) a contest can be held, where each participant has to submit a short storyboard (only 4 to 5 frames, no color) to tell a short story/joke/meme/recreation (Rayman related). I think it can be fun and it is easy to make.

I like the idea, however most contests in recent years have failed because of a lack of participants, so I'm not sure if this one would fare any better. We can always ask around beforehand, though!
