I think the eyes of the rabbit/bunny are a little too dark, perhaps you should try playing a bit more with contrast there.
Regarding the size of the "bunny" I think hare eyes would be a little more fitting than bunny eyes, but I guess it comes down to personal preferences.

The guy who wrote the History of Rayman book mentioned ROTD, I'm sure Ad will be thrilled to see this.
If anyone wants to translate what he's saying, go for it.

That's fantastic.

It's already evident that Ubi etc. keep an eye on us here, but to have confirmation that ROTD is being noticed - even if it's by a lowly journo - is brilliant. Congrats to the team!
Brief translation of the passage in point: Guarné is asked if he agrees that a 2D artistic direction best suits the franchise going forward, he himself prefers the 2D style but doesn't think a third in the Ubiart series would be tenable owing to sales figures and fatigue on the part of the fans. The 3D games have aged well by comparison. He goes on to say he is curious for a new 3D Rayman and that he is not alone in this, which is where he mentions the unofficial Rayman: Revenge of the Dark.
(Kinda presumptious of me when we have actual french speakers on the board, hahahaaaah...)

So of course even the people involved with Ancel also would like a new 3D title... we aren't alone it seems.
(Though I had no doubt of this, I'm sure Ancel also wants to make a 3D title in the future.

Interesting find Rayfist. Hopefully this means a new future 3D Rayman game.

Aye, this is true. It's not very sensible to use a cat as reference when you're animating a rabbit. Either way, I will try to improve the animation. After all, this is only my first. But I have other things to do right now.
I'd have thought, considering it obviously resembles a rabbit, and this is the Rayman world, an unorthodox running pattern dissimilar to a real rabbit's would suit it more, it's a fantasy creature after all. If it ran like a cat, really fast, and walked like one too, slow and cautious, and less hoppy, it would look more fantasy-like and more interesting.
Just my opinion.

Glad to hear! We've got some more progress coming your way-
We just finished some pines, here they are in-engine:
(Disregard the horrible framerate, I hadn't added any LODs or optimisation yet in these first two shots - now I get about 55 and 90 FPS respectively)
And now for the tessellation-

Tab between the comparisons if you please, the pine cones are especially affected.

Pretty awesome, Addy! Can't say I notice too many differences with/without tesselation, though when you mention the pine cones, it's clear that what it's trying to do is working. The differences between the mathematical and arboreal cones are obvious if you pay attention to them. The trees and leaves themselves, I see not a lot - but I'm sure it looks great. |D

You can see more differences here, with tessellation world looks better

:

As in, open them both in separate tabs and switch between them, everything should look quite different. The best things to compare are areas where it's very obviously not smooth/polygonisms, such as this leaf:

Ha, this had been mentioned in the French thread about the book: Guarné told us he had made preliminary researches about ROTD as it is a good project for a new 3D Rayman game, but that due to its non-official/fangame aspect, he couldn't put the content into the book (he also mentioned he planned not to talk about it due to content overload).
I thought you guys knew that, my bad

...
New textures look awesome! About tesselation, it's normal differences are not very sensible at first glance, like Shroob' said (fortunately, Adsolution already made it look simpler with the leaf looking less edgy). However, over a long run of movement and game experience, it looks way better

.
I like the first picture with the foggy atmosphere, personnally. I do'nt have a lot of time to explain why, though: I've been very busy during these Xmas holidays :3.

I really like tessellation, especially on the pine cones, although I do think the branches look less ragged without.
