The guy who wrote the History of Rayman book mentioned ROTD, I'm sure Ad will be thrilled to see this.

If anyone wants to translate what he's saying, go for it.
Now that is a great publicity! :D

@Ad I love those trees. I start to feel everytime I pop-up in this thread that I lost too many things!

Have you considered to add ROTD on Steam Green Light ? Or something ?

He can put it on Steam Green Light only if it is ok with Ubisoft since they are potentional publishers. He is just developer.

Also it's their content and I'm not entirely sure how they stand on this game. They may allow its development, as long as Codes doesn't make any maaneys.

Renegade X comes to mind. It's a game based off of Command and Conquer: Renegade and completely fan-made over the course of many, many years. EA has allowed its existence, but the devs cannot earn off of it.

Fixed. If Adsolution would be interested I could offer myself to translate the texts in Portuguese.

I don't know how it works but isn't Green Light for paid content? I don't think Adsolution can do it if that's the case.

I think Greenlight is to get on Steam in general, but for Steam to put your game on and maintain its availability and provide technical support to it, there needs to be something something money coming towards them to make up for it. I'm not sure how free games make their way onto Steam, really.

Free games on Steam are mostly probably by companies who have enough money they made thanks to other games, or they have special agreement with Steam so they don't pay to maintain the avalibility. Then again who knows if current free Steam games will be free in couple of years or be even on Steam to begin with.

I've been working on this for years, so it's a give-in that I've considered pretty much everything. However, discussing how it should be released is pretty pointless for the time being, seeing as I have no idea what I'll even be allowed to do.

Release dates, forms of release, platforms, anything relating to its release - I can't answer any of these, I can only provide ideals.

We first need a game to translate it, yes!

So Ad, how good is CryEngine at from the get-go multiplatform support? Does it 'just work' or are you supposed to fiddle around with game code a lot?

I'm not sure, I don't exactly have any devkits. However, I think it's good virtually from the get-go.

Just posting this little area because why not:

There's a new terrain texture being used here (painted by Spanex, of course!), it's the rock walls on past the little step-up.

Superb as always! I can just make out the new texture. How does Rayman compare size-wise?
The closest walls remind me of dicks straining to escape their denim confines, which is A-OK.

Candy is being the perv she is...

It looks amazing Ad! I'm wondering, is this an actual in-game area, or is this just a set-up for a test render?

Here's a short video of him jumping around in it, so you can see the 'in-game'-ness and the size comparison:

This is moreso just an asset/environment test area, so it's not really a part of any level, nor does it have any real level design.

Wow, the camera's a lot more stable and fitting to the platforming perspective, nice work!

Thanks! The camera and Rayman's mechanics have been my main focus since October, and they're redone entirely from scratch (I was mostly default CryEngine stuff before for both). As some might notice, this is actually the first ROTD video I've posted in over a year, so this is a first glimpse of sorts.

The animation in that video is really lovely, the transitions between his movements are perfectly smooth too. The camera looks fantastic as well. Really well done, I can't wait to see more! :D

I know I'm probably not very active, but in case you need I can translate the game to Spanish. Maybe also French if needed. I'd enjoy doing it as I'm studying Translating and Interpreting in college. As long as I read the message when the time comes and I have the time.

Pretty lost with the advance of this game though. How's it going?

Well, as has been said recently, nowhere near at the stage where it needs translating. :P

I'm very impressed with that video! :D
