I mostly agree, but the PC port of R1 is inferior to the PS1/Saturn version, in my opinion :D

Yeah there’s no intro and the dream forest uses the cave of Skops music

The original PC release does have an intro and and ending. It was broken in 1.21... The Caves of Skops music in Dream Forest is a bug in the US Rayman Forever bundle (and the 100 Levels bundle based on it). Other versions do not have this problem.

The deficiency of the PC port is the reduced color depth, and the soundtrack for every world being merged into one, without any distinct level or section themes. However, it has nice things too, like Bongo Hills part 1, Breakout mini-game (also in the Atari version), and of course it gave rise to all the spinoffs like Rayman Designer etc, which are PC-exclusive.

Oh that's an interesting tidbit, I thought other regions would have that music bug.

I can agree the PC bongo hills 1 is much better than the PS1, and also there’s a few minor differences throughout the rest of the level

Also, does the opening cutscene play in the PAL rayman forever?

OK, there is no such thing as "PAL Rayman Forever". PAL is a television video format standard, whereas all PC versions of Rayman use a standard PC video format.

The "US" version was used for the English language release of the game (which incidentally is the only one available on GOG :tssk:). There were French and German ones too, which as far as I know also didn't include the cutscene on the disc. But unlike the US one, they will play it if you supply the file (whereas the US one crashes :tssk:)

Unpopular opinion:

I'm not a huge fan of the music levels in Rayman Legends.

YESSSSSSSSSS SOMEBODY AGREES!!!!!!!! It’d be great if they had actual good songs being remixed (that’ll probably offend someone )

Just admit it; you don’t like the music

While I'll say Legends could have done more with the music gimmick (actually making *you* produce the music or various sounds in different ways), I can't deny I had so much fun with these levels that I replayed them over and over! :mryellow:
It may get kind of repetitive in a way, but I never got tired of these levels, they're just too satisfying! Perfecting them (especially the last two) felt like the best thing ever when I was younger, and they were a big inspiration for my own take on music levels in Rayman ReDesigner (Rock'n'Run, Undefeatable Fist...)!

Unpopular opinion: I don't like very much the Tricky Treasure levels... But "why", you might ask? :pardon2:
Well, as a wise man once said:

I won't elaborate any further than this. :hap:

The nice thing about music levels in Legends is how short they are. Orchestral Chaos and Mariachi Madness probably have the highest lums / minute count of all levels.

Kinda funny how the legends covers are more popular than the original songs

I feel like bias is coming into play there, at least three of the songs are well renowned from pop-culture. Like Castle Rock is Black Betty - YT video for that has over 300m views, and that's not counting the spiderbait rendition, which I first came across back when I played NFS Underground 2 as a kid.

Mariachi Madness is a take on "Eye of the Tiger," well known as the Rocky song, similar story to Glou Glou, which is apparently based on a song from Kill Bill.

Tbh, the music levels were aight, but the 8bit remix levels can die in a fire tho. It's been ten years and some of those effects with the flashes of static and the quick transitions between those odd effects still give me a fucking headache. ...I'm possibly also still a bit bitter that those were the "final gauntlet" that Legends had to offer. Origins' Land of the Livid Dead was a far more worthwhile and satisfying conclusion in comparison.

Tho I wonder how unpopular the sentiment I have in saying that I find Origins a more satisfying game in general would be? Also I never did like the medieval fantasy angle that the series took from Legends, give me the old school occulty mysticism any day over the tired old knights and swords schtick.

There's some opinions for y'all to decide the popularity of 😝

Wait, does anyone know what grannies world tour is sampled from, or is it original?

Nah that's just a remix of Chasing a Dream from Origins. I think that and Orchestral Chaos are both original tracks. I'm not 100% on the one from Olympus Maximus tho, the wiki should probs have answers on that.

Yeah, only Orchestral Chaos is original to Legends. Every other song is a remix from another song.

What's interesting for me about Glou Glou is that I didn't learn this was a song from a movie (much less a Japanese rock band) until I joined, and when I did hear the original song the first time I realized I heard this song on some TV commercial when I was a kid.

Funny you asked that, since I was suddenly inclined to look for that commercial again, and in fact I did find the company (Vonage) that used this song (there were actually multiple commercials from them that played Woo Hoo).
