Geez, people are complaining like if Rayman was about to be like that forever.

I'm worried about
Flanderization. It probably won't be a problem, but it was a problem with the rabbids...
Ooh.. yeah, you got a point there. Ubi may want to do that...
Jewish Candy wrote:Knowing Ubi, this WILL be the case. I hope that Ancel sees enough sense to add a more serious tone to the piece.

...but I feel Ancel would not. He made the character... and maybe I'm showing a bit too much
Creator Worship here, but as long as the end result is what Ancel intends it to be, I think I'll find it in myself to like it. XD After all, I've loved every single one of the other games made by the guy that I've gotten a chance to play... admittedly, that is several Rayman games and BG&E. But they are AWESOME.

We cannot negate that we questioned always Rayman's true origin and how he behaved in the past.
And I repeat again, it is useless to start to take too much quick conclusions about a game that isn't released yet.
And about the art style of the game, think a little: What's more preferable? A silly but adaptable art style to characters with "goofy" personality or R1's style but unadaptable to characters with "goofy" personality?
If they keeped the R1 style into the game I'm sure this would ruin the atmosphere from the game and making fans very unhappy. Seriously, it would be a epic failure.

How could you say that!? Mega man sucked when it got released for the ps1 with his new style, so they remade it into classic 8 bit again and EVERYONE loved it!
So your saying if they remade the game rayman 1 style it would be a epic failure!? I know r1 is old but cmon.
Edit: I don't hate origins, I'm getting it for my ps3, but to use a rayman 1 style wouldn't really matter to me.

You are not understanding. I'm talking about Rayman Origins in case of the art style being EXACTLY equal to R1's style. It's just the goofy personalities wouldn't match the R1 artistic style! Anyone who played R1 until the end can understand WHY. Closed case! I know and I am conscious what I am saying. I am not rejecting the R1 or saying the game sucked, neither rejecting the DOS-Graphic style or saying it is outdated! Not that!
That's why I aprove the new artistic style from RO: because it matches with the goofy personalities of the characters and the plot that the game will take care!

Ok fine. Good enough. Because I absolutely hate getting in fights.

I agree with you in many ways. With the way the game seems to be going(unless they back away from the idea because of
Executive Meddling or
Creative Differences, and suddenly there's a huge change the art/game style like there was for Raving Rabbids), the sort of feeling that R1 had wouldn't be entirely fitting for such silly, unstable characters. It's a bit too serious/mystical and day-dreamy for Origins, where Rayman seems to be batshit crazy and totally unpredictable before he gets himself under control.
And it's also true that people shouldn't be making final opinions on the game with how little we've been given to go on. Sure, people can have their views based on what they've seen, but they have to realize that they could be totally wrong or that their view might change on release. Someone might be skeptical or like it, or someone could be hyped for it and then be disappointed in the final result. And all of that...
Oh. And I also don't like getting in fights. XD

The thing I don't like about this game so far, is the personalities of Rayman and Globox. The character that we've seen in the trailer for Origins is not the same character in, say, Rayman 2. You don't 'get your act together' from being a total moron. The only explanation is that when they created him, the fairies accidentally gave him the IQ of a goldfish and then fixed it later, or he was insane and this was fixed. Other than physically, I don't see any resemblance between the 'Rayman" in the trailer, and the Rayman we know from past games. That's the problem I[i/] have with this game so far. /rant

Since this is sort of a prequel to rayman or rayman 2 or a reboot of the series, rayman is gonna act like a irresponsible kid/teenager because he was just randomly put into the world, as seen in the trailer.

That's the thing. He wasn't acting like an irresponsible kid/teenager. He was acting like a different character (who is mentally challenged)

I will not negate that I was caught by surprise when I saw Rayman blowing air to "Betilla's" skirt and both Globox and Rayman slapping theirselves during the trailer.
It intrigated me because they (especially Rayman) looked SO DIFFERENT from any other game. The game suggests just to be a prequel from R1, that will explain how Rayman's life begun and how he became a hero. I'm sure as we will proceed in the game, we will have very interesting answers.
By the way I really like the Livingstone's new look. I wonder if we will find the Antitoons and Mr. Dark aswell, and if that succeeds, how it will be their new look.

In my opinion, if Rayman was born from moonbeams I doubt that brain development would take too long. In which case, the fact that he starts out a neanderthal and develops into 'abortus membratus sapiens' or something by R2 isn't so surprising.

I... am in two minds about the new Livingstones, though they definitely work for the style of the game.

I hope they explain why the Livingstones suddenly have limbs, as apposed to just making it a Ret Con.

Any such explanation would necessarily be ridiculous and unbelievable. A retcon would be preferable.

I don't have time to read through all of these pages, but where are these new livingstone screens?

Oh how I wish for the original 2d Rayman 2 to be resurrected now haha.
EDIT: This still looks good in it's own way, I just wish...

I really think that this game looks like a cross between Rayman 1 and Rayman 2
