Despite the long amount of cutscenes in all games, they are fairly short games and time will pass fast if you just stick with it. If Omar can do it you shouldn't have a hard time enjoying the series (Though I'm heavily against the fact he played 2 and didn't play 1)

I've played them all aside from 2 (just the intro) I don't know why but I just couldn't get into that one. I'll give it a another shot someday soon. For me, my favourites are probably MGS 3 and Peace Walker with MGS 4 not too far behind.

You're telling me you beat MGS 4 having not beaten 2? What about the Patriots? Emma? Solidus? GW? There's a lot of MGS 2 discussion there so I suggest replaying for you to fully understand.

MGS 2 was a masterpiece honestly, doesn't deserve the critique it gets just because you don't play as Snake for majority of the game.

I agree Metal Gear Solid 3 is easily one of the best. Big Boss's loyalty to The Boss is one that will always stick with me. Peace Walker was also really awesome, has me super hyped for MGS V. I will be replaying Peace Walker though in my MGS marathon currently.

I tend to prefer the original MGS, but maybe because of the french dub, which is orgasmically awesome.

MGS 1 is also very good but I think gameplay wise it actually hasn't aged incredibly. Story wise though it's pretty flawless. Yeah it has that weird 90's hero movie vibe from it but it's really great honestly. The Twin Snakes remake on gamecube while much superior gameplay wise was actually ruined with a lot of it's voice acting. Many scenes with a lot of emotion packed into it lost their sense of meaning due to a lot of the rather mediocre voice acting in Twin Snakes.

Haha I know, it's because I first started playing MGS 4 when I was like 13 without playing the others and didn't realize how intricate the story was and what I was getting myself into really. Nowadays, I wouldn't dare play such a story driven series in the wrong order.

The reason why I don't like MGS1 was much as the other is the camera; I'm personally not a big fan of the old MGS camera seen in the first 3 original games. After playing 3 HD, Peacewalker and Ground Zeroes etc with the glorious updated camera, it's hard for me to go back to. I still think the game is extremely well designed for it's time however.

I just got Rayman 3 for the GameCube and I am loving it so far. I've only made it to the Clearleaf Forest but damn, I'm having a lot of fun with game.

I've been continuing Speedy Eggbert 2. The new mechanics/elements are interesting but does not improve that much the quality of the game.

Go play the remake: MGS Twin Snakes. It's a remake of MGS 1 that uses the engine of MGS 2 along with all of MGS2's mechanics. Otherwise if you don't like 2 I guess it's hard to enjoy. It seems you're all caught up with the Big Boss series though.

I played FF8 yesterday, but it was embarrassing – I couldn’t even beat Raijin and Fujin in the Lunatic Pandora on disc 3.

I did beat FF7 not too long ago on STEAM, but I want to own a physical PS1 copy. Along with that I'll probably get FF8 and 9.
I was playing FFX not too long ago but sort of stopped midway. It wasn't a bad game, very good if I might add, I just was lost in other games in my backlog.
