I tried doing that before and it crashed. I tried again now, and while it did work everything was still 16-bit, with clear banding in dark areas such as the Marshes of Awakening.

I tried it and the game won't even launch, it just complains about not finding some .dll
Proceed with my instruction of DLLs completion, or reinstall, and then apply it. Should be fine.

When we decrease luminousity, it looks the same as a little dark DC version in some places.
But now I look that PC version has better colors of textures, when DC has more graphic additions, and I heard better resolution of textures here and there.

In overall, I think that PC version looks better now after some luminosity and/or some gamma/brightness tweaks.

And for example, PS2 version in overall is worse than PC and DC, despite of some new not only graphical additions. Looks like PC wins master race.

What do you mean be "clear banding"?
I can't understand you.

I'm sorry but I realized that I had 0.7 gamma setting during testing.
That's why maybe I spoke about adjusting luminousity.

Watch out for lauching GXSetup after editing ubi.ini.
It reverts x 32 to 16!

How is that possible? I thought Rayman 2's textures are in 16 bit...?
You know, old games had 32 Bit depth support despite of fact that they have 16 bit textures. Somehow it looks better.
It works similar to sound card's bits or maybe samplerate settings.

Have the Rayman 2 sounds ever been ripped and uploaded someone? I'd like to get my hands on the gibberish Rayman voice lines.

Thank you! Hearing Rayman's gibberish makes me want to play Rayman 2 again.

Hey guys,

Are there any High-Resolution Texture mods for the PC version of Rayman 2? Not talking about the Reshade Sweetfx's mod but rather a mod that gives
the textures a higher resolution.

Just run the setup or edit the ubi.ini and you'll be able to choose pretty much any resolution ;)

The exact name is GXSetup.exe.

I know, I just thought "setup" was obvious enough as there's just one.

Oh thanks but I didn't mean that :) . I was talking about any texture packs that are made for Rayman 2 on PC that replaces the original textures with custom better ones quality-wise.

It was considered before. People used to say that DC version has some better textures than in PC. But, I don't especially think that all of them are worth of replace.
Anyway, we can unpack them, but not pack again into PC version, or I just stucked with one given instruction. I have some info provided somewhere.

Texture hacking into Rayman 2 PC is possible, Gotan, Droolie and I did a little DarkRay modification to show it off. Perhaps the DC textures could be hacked into the game in a similar manner?

Possibly, but first the Dreamcast textures must be extracted. They appear to be inside .tex files, which seems to be an archive of multiple .pvr files (which can be extracted). However, the .pvr files appear to be compressed via a custom LZSS implementation (as shown by the LZSS header), which would need to be reversed.

Nice one, bunnieblaster.

So it's the opposite. There are problems with an extraction, not with a packing.

So some new homebrew was released for 3DS that allows for video capture through WiFi: SPOILER: it sucks.

I'm bringing back this from the RL thread:

OK, All right, I'll answer anaphasiia's questionary....

> Me: "The camera often gets stuck."
> You: "When? I think the camera is one of the most flawless and advanced ones for what it does. "
> Me: The camera has the advantage of being fixed, a la Super Mario Galaxy, letting you be more fond on your perception and making platforming easier. HOWEVER... there are some open areas in which I wish I had full control of the camera, kinda like Super Mario 64. Controlling the camera in those areas is annoying.

> Me: "The game has a lot of slow, clunky sections."
> You: "Where? Aside from carrying objects very seldom and for very brief periods, I can't recall any slow, overlong parts." (except maybe that flying part in the Iron Mountains)
> Me: Sure. "Brief periods" doesn't stop it from happening. And they're also FREQUENT brief periods. Saving Ly from the pirates should be an epic quest, and it ends up being this kind of annoying boss battle where you must launch the barrel upwards because you must shoot at the easiest to beat bomb ever. It's booooriiiiing.

> Me: "Climbing is tedious and slow."
> You: "All climbing sections in the game are extremely short and you climb the same speed you run."
> Me: Yeah, except that you can't jump, or move on a direct trajectory. It's always just up, then left, then up again, then left. It'd be nice if it was a little more interactive, I mean, Rayman 1 lets you punch piranhas while you're scaling the vines.

> Me: "If you make a mistake on a climbing section, you have to start over."
> You: "This literally isn't true, you can always grab on again right where you were if you get hit, except for maybe one of them."
> Me: Oh, but it is true. If you don't grab on again (which is a normal thing to do if it's your first time playing) you will most likely fall and die. Why not just... take damage and that's it? why do you have the punishment of also having to grab the wall again?

> Me: "The helicopter is difficult to use, it doesn't make sense, and you to die because of it all the time."
> You: "The helicopter makes you fall slower and gives you extra control. How can that possibly make it dangerous?"
> Me: I try to activate it as if it acts like a real helicopter. Because, you know, that's like, the momentum that I expect from the game, not the made up bullshit that they're forcing me to learn.
> You: "Correct, it doesn't act like a real helicopter. But many platformer hover mechanics act the exact same way, because it works for what it's used for, and it acting like that has more useful purposes aside from slowing descent which would not work if it were realistic. Also, the games you say do it right don't really act intuitively like real helicopters either."
> Me: "If you enjoy it that way, that's fine. I'm sorry to disagree, but, as I said earlier, Conker doesn't do it that way, and I feel better using the helicopter tail on Conker. I guess it's just matter of opinions"
> You: "You're lying, StrawLord"
> Me: "Eh. No."

Yay, on topic again :mryellow:
