5. The Dream Forest - "Revenge of the Dark" 15:15
6. Starlight Peak - "Fun in the Snow" 18:11

Made in Logic Pro X. All of these are remakes/reimaginings of previous tracks.
Fun in the Snow is "Raven's theme", as written in the recent piano video.
Saviour is the track in the recent "behind the scenes" video with singing glasses.
deton24 wrote:Ahhhh,.... some kind of a remix of masterpiece from the trailer music in the 0:54... awesome. Thank you.
Hehe, yep, I definitely thought it deserved a full remake.
Eren wrote:Oh dear, the part at 0:58 it's just too fucking good, it has a bit of a Don't Starve feeling and reminds me a bit of Edward Scissorhand, I'm guessing you were going for the last one tho.
Aye, the latter definitely. I would almost consider parts of it a complete rip-off.

Very nice! Some of it sounded familiar, not even sure from where, but that's good. :)

Yay a new soundtrack! Lemme get my review specs on to get in the mood.

SAVIOUR
----
0:00 : SO HYPE
0:15 : The swelling strings in combination with the glasses give a very eerie and mysterious feeling; not necessarily scary, but definitely some type of tense.
0:46 : The choirs build up to something way more dramatic than before.
1:03 : YES. I love these church-like chords that meld into each other.
Onwards: Big, dramatic swell. Has a powerful impact. Then a drop back to almost silence. Lets you think about what you just heard and clears the tension from the mind. I love the dynamics.
2:30 : I just realised I was supposed to not dream on into worlds beyond my view but was supposed to review the music. Sorry, I just got carried elsewhere!
---

THE ICE VOLCANO: Centre
----
3:11 : This feels incredibly Rayman 3esque. It reminds me of the Hoodlum HQ, but slower and more... chilled. Lol.
3:42 : Ah, the good retro synth bleeping.
3:45 : The wind instruments, I think a live flute, are singing and ringing very nicely. They move up and down and carry you on the icy winds.
4:15 : Neat chords.
5:30 : Reminds me of either Muse or Daft Punk. But mainly, reminds me of Codes. I leik

The build-up in this track in general is great. It begins small and quiet, then builds up to this big, sorta complex theme, then drops away again to something less "present" and finally it all comes together in one final movement. And of course, as any good music, ends with a long, sustained chord.

----

THE ICE VOLCANO: Red Sea
----
Now this is something else entirely. It feels dark and eerie, definitely scary this time. Big and ominous, the landscape before me is cavernous or tribal of some sort. There is danger present, or at least something large and breathtaking. It reminds me a little of Rayman 2 and of Mario&Luigi:Partners In Time, both their volcano levels. Something in the chord progression from 8:22 onwards is reminiscent of the Centre theme and ties the two together. The slow, beating rhythm is both atmospheric and droning at the same time. There is something here that moves slowly, but at a constant pace. Maybe it's huge and strides with enormous feet? Maybe it's a body of liquid rock moving masses of earth in intense heat (I'm gonna guess yes seeing the title). I like the Xiao-like flute after 10:05. This music is non-repetitive yet has recurring themes.

----

MOUNT KOLLAPSO: Race of a Legendary Misconception
----
You already know how much I love this. I'm just gonna sit back and enjoy this one. Maybe listen to it five times or so. Yeah.

There's just so much awesome in this track. The many, many instruments joining together in song, the bassline ostinato, the choir and tubular bells, the ever-growing necessity to RUN, RUN — RUN! The marimba... bagpipes... flutes... it's all absolutely fabulous.

14:21 HOLY SHIT
Oh and I thought I knew this piece already. Damn, such a nice reprise! Mmm them chords.

bass chords at end best chords

----

THE DREAM FOREST: Revenge of the Dark
----
~ROLL CREDITS!~

Now this is the theme we've all been waiting for. ;)
It's Spellbound Forest — which was already great — taken to a whole new place. It sounds now no longer like Spellbound Forest itself, but as a whole new work whose main theme is merely inspired by that track. The dynamics are worthy of a real-life orchestra. The celestas are magical and sort of cute even, a stark contrast to the military and ghostly sounds of all the other instruments' parts.

17:38 : Now the shit is gonna go down isn't it?
17:50 : Yeah, it's all over the walls.

It sounds terrible, terrifying and sad. Dark and dreadful, defeated and empty. There chimes the cute melody, slowly failing. ... goodbye

---

STARLIGHT PEAK - Fun in the Snow
----
Raven sounds to be a very cool bird. Her theme is folk-tribal, almost Irish traditional in sound. But, as with all your other songs, backed by an enormous and versatile orchestra. Even the smallest melody shines through like it was in the spotlights. I feel like I could listen to this a thousand times and find new melodies and rhythms in between each other one still.

21:00 : These few seconds spell uncertainty? They feel almost surprising, catching you off-guard. What is coming? Who is watching?

The whole track could be the track of a film score. Brill.

22:20 : And the huge sound of it all recedes back into what could be a tiny tavern or campfire meeting with only few musicians. Its power is reduced to something far more vulnerable and light. The music turns from awesome to delicate in an instant. Pure magic.

----

Thanks for the release, Codes. I've missed these.

I didn't even catch that, actually, good catch! I guess it was very inspired by Hoodlum Headquarters.

Yeah baby.

This is something I had a shitload of trouble with in this track, so I'm glad it's sounding legit. ;)

goodbye

That's what I felt about some of the melodies as well when I came up with them, but I wasn't able to think of or find anything that I might have been copying. Maybe it's just pulling at nostalgia mood-strings. :hehe:

I wish I knew how to work this forum haha I'm a huge fan of the game from 2011(or maybe even earlier?), really excited for a demo or the release. Dude, over the time I've anticipated this game I've gone through soo much. I remember telling my first serious girlfriend that I had in 7th grade about this game and her not knowing shit about it and not caring. Then dumping her almost 2 years later and still watching videos, excited for the release. Then I got into partying a lot and later quit partying and got a job, and I was still watching videos and being hyped for this game. I remember leaving a comment on one of your videos saying "imagine the psunamis.." about a gigantic planet in the distance of a rayman rotd picture and getting a reply from adsolution correcting my spelling and I was starstruck. This was years ago. I remember my first time visiting this forum years ago because I was looking anywhere for info on this amazing fangame that bridges a gap between a childhood all-time favorite game and the difficult, yet fun, Rayman 2. I was inspired to start making videogames and scripting on python for a good month or 2 all because of the idea that anybody can make their own legit game like rayman rotd. I was young and much different when I first heard about this game and as I've grown and developed, the anticipation for this game and the teasers have grown along with me. The anticipation and the release of this game will have been ~5% of my life, maybe more, and it will be something that I will remember for the rest of my life. Now I'm going to college 5 days a week and working on the weekends, growing up and looking towards transfering to university and finding my own place, and I'm still as excited for this game as I was on day one. Even more excited for it now. Thank you or not giving up on this project, just know Adsolution, this little fan-game means more to me than a lot of things in life. I'd easily pay $100 for a copy when you're finally finished with it. I appreciate rotd

I know hype is a crazy thing, but seriously? That's incredibly shallow to dump your first girlfriend just because she doesn't share that particular interest.

Maybe I don't speak the same brexitannian as you but he didn't link the fact that he dumped his girlfriend and ROTD. He just states the passage of time. He got a girlfriend, he dumped the girlfriend. What remained constant is the love for ROTD, but there's no connection between the two events.

I remember that comment. It reminded me of Interstellar.

You found Rayman 2 more difficult than the first game?

That's really quite nice to hear; I'm honoured that this project has had an effect on so many people. The original series really has a poignant place in the hearts of the fans.

----

Hey everyone, I've never done this before, but any and all help is appreciated -

Due to the fact I seriously need to get a move-on with programming Rayman's mechanics, I've enlisted the help of a friend of mine who just got out of University for modelling/rigging. I'll be paying him 700 CAD (535 USD) to help me produce a Rayman model with professional topography, a proper UV map and a fully dynamic rig, stretch/deformations included. When it comes to hard-surface or environmental modelling, I flourish; I can make stylistically-pleasing character models as well, but there are some techniques that I have not taken the time to learn properly, and as a result it's caused me to constantly have to redo things. With the help of my friend, I'll finally be able to have a gorgeous model in the engine that will have been done properly.

I have virtually no money and currently don't have a job aside from freelance production, and my primary client is being a dick, which is why I'm asking people if they have anything they can donate. If you wish to donate, please reply with the amount you've sent. If you've donated at least $10, and if Revenge of the Dark ever sees the light of day, I'll be sure your names appear in the credits and that you receive a free copy upon release, if the latter isn't even fucking moot. ;)

Again, 700 CAD (535 USD) is my goal. I'll be raising most of it myself probably, very, very slowly, but don't hesitate. The sooner I'm able to reach this, the sooner our team will be able to assemble the public, playable prototype, and the sooner the game will be complete as a whole.
