I doubt anyone is going to post in the new spoiler-free version of the thread. The constant stream of news is the only thing keeping this one alive.

You guys won then.

I wonder if it will be a good idea for me to keep visiting RayWiki before beating the game.

YOU THOUGHT THIS WAS A SPOILER. NO WAY. STOP CHEATING AND WAIT FOR THE FREAKING RELEASE!
HA!

Now I sort of want a spoiler-free Rayman Origins thread, just to see if my prediction will come true.

Haruka – maybe we should use the word ‘SPOILER’ as an edit summary whenever we’re adding spoiler information to an article? That way you’d know which articles to avoid reading.

Earth-shattering Rayman Origins spoiler ahead:

[More specifically, I wonder how RayWiki should handle the revelation that the Magician is Mr Dark? Should we merge the two articles or something?]

Note that surrounding invisible spoilers with square brackets makes them look strangely cool. I’m going to do it from now on.

[I don't think so; in any case, we'll have to wait until the release of the game.]

[But where do we draw the line between the two articles? Should the Magician’s page cover all of his appearances in Origins, apart from the final one, where he turns out to be Mr Dark? Should the Magician be excluded from the ‘Bosses from Rayman Origins’ category, even though he technically belongs there? I imagine that the two articles could end up with a significant amount of overlapping information, in which case it might be better (more convenient and less confusing) to centralise it all into one detailed and coherent page. But as you said, all this will remain hypothetical until the game releases.]

That's a good idea, thanks. It is sad that I cannot edit articles until I beat the game. I am also curious about the whole invisible texting here, but I must resist to the temptation. I want to be surprised when I play the game.

[This actually makes no sense for multiple reasons. For one, in the Rayman Junior introduction, Mister Dark and the Magician are in the same scene, as different people.]

[I've seen how other wikis handle twists like this - they just add a reference to the villain article. I like that.
Personally, I would put the whole Magician story from Rayman Origins in the Magician article and when mentioning he reveals himself to be Mr Dark, link to that article. Then, continue describing both roles in it. In the Mr Dark article, I would put Mr Dark's story from Rayman Origins and when he reveals that he was the magician all that time, just link to that article and continue with info from Mr Dark in both of his appearances.

Having a bit of overlapping information is nothing compared to how much you would spoil the story by combining the articles. If you'd do that, people who wanted to know about the Magician would immediately know that he's actually Mr Dark in Rayman Origins. The experience would be spoiled for them.
That is - IF this twist is actually going to happen.

Also, put a spoiler warning above this part of the story.

@RayFan: [I don't think Rayman Junior is really canon.]

I accidentally found out about the spoiler, so I decided I might as well watch the video and read all the invisible text. :P

Well, Hunch started out with visible text, and I didn't quite catch the spoiler warning before it was too late.

[It begins to make perfect sense when you accept that Rayman Junior was an uninspired hack-job that had nothing to do with the original developers.

Origins is a real Rayman game, with real artistic merit. It can ignore Junior all it likes.

[Could you post a link? At the moment I can’t think of any other game series where this sort of thing has happened.]

[Fair enough, nonetheless it may seem weird to those who play Rayman Junior after Rayman Origins, even though the group of people who do that would be ridiculously small. It's not really much a problem, I'm just pointing it out. I love the twist though.]

I hope they blatantly contradict the Raving Rabbids games too.

Too bad that would be harder to do with such few characters in common between the series. Unless it would have something to do with Rayman's hair...

Let’s say I have the same hairstyle now that I had five years ago. What if I had a different hairstyle during the five intervening years? Does that mean those five years are a continuity error, and that the last five years of my life were non-canonical?

Rayman lost all his powers when the Heart of the World exploded, so there's no contradiction. The same could have happened between Origins and the original game.
