Re: Rayman 3
It wouldn't surprise me if they tested it by using their debug menu to complete all levels on GBA, which would set the value to the expected one. If I remember correctly from this the issue is that the game never saves that you've finished the final boss level, thus it's one less than expected. Still, they should have of course tested it by normal means (though I'd also imagine that wasn't all too easy with the games being made by different studios).

Re: Rayman 3
I took a look at the video, and you’re right, this unused challenge looks a lot like the second punch challenge. But still, this is a really nice find!

Re: Rayman 3
A fully functional cut level? While the level itself isn't particularly interesting, it's still a great find, especially since its existence was hinted at.
So what's it called, Ly's Punch Challenge GCN? Definitely worthy of a wiki article. Speaking of which, there appears to be mistakes in the various Ly's Punch Challenge articles, probably due to too much copy-pasting. I've fixed a couple but I'm not sure about the level names on N-Gage.

Re: Rayman 3
Interesting, looking at your edits it seems the N-Gage version has a third Punch Challenge, and in the GBA ROM I found a level name for "Ly's Punch Challenge 3". Perhaps this level is the same one? I previously only checked the debug level list, where it's titled "Challenge Ly GCN", but then again this list has all levels use their Rayman 2 names which were never used in the final game, so not really accurate. I'll ask Haruka as I know she has the N-Gage version.

Re: Rayman 3
Yeah, that's what I gathered from reading the articles too. It's as if Challenge 1 on GBA is Challenge 2 on N-Gage, Challenge 2 becomes Challenge 3, and there's an added Challenge 1 that's not present on GBA. But maybe this is the level you found?

Re: Rayman 3
I like how Rayman 3 feels like an odyssey across The Glade.
Re: Rayman 3
I've seen gameplay videos for the N-GAGE version before, it's certainly interesting. That being said, I never did complete the GBA version. I need to start finishing games!

Re: Rayman 3
Wow, does it really look that bad played on a real GBA? I've only played it with an emulator and it wasn't that bad to me so that makes me slightly curious.
Re: Rayman 3
The game has a very dark color palette, which makes it hard to see on a GBA, especially on the older models without backlight. I never found it to be a major issue though, but it's certainly noticeable compared to playing on an emulator.

Re: Rayman 3
Yea
The shell level for example, it is so hard to see where the log begins or ends
Speaking of shell, fuck that level to hell
I swear to god theres some form of input lag which kept me falling into a death pit
Or i just dont make the jump
That level is cancer

Re: Rayman 3
I do have a backlit screen in my original GBA, so I guess this could somewhat help. The only issue is it has a lot of motion blur. I guess I also have the Game Boy Player for GameCube, but the issue with that is the dpad.

I never noticed that, despite playing on the original GBA when the game was released. Or did I have the SP already?RayCarrot wrote: Sun Aug 02, 2020 9:38 am The game has a very dark color palette, which makes it hard to see on a GBA, especially on the older models without backlight. Re: Rayman 3
Been readint the wiki about Mawpaws and Bontons. I see that these creatures are called Paluchardes and Flabars in French, my question is where did the English names come from and what does the Bonton’s French name Flabar mean?
Re: Rayman 3
I still find it hard to see anyway on an SP since they just use frontlit screens, unless you were lucky enough to get one of the very limited back near the end that actually used backlights, or you can put one of them in by yourself.
The DS would surely be alright too, the screen on the DS Lite is fairly bright.

I do have a Wii U also, so I'll keep this in mind.

Re: Rayman 3
Ooh, in that case, whenever I get this game, I'll play it on my old blue DS since it still works. Now if only I can find some way to reliably charge it (the charging port malfunctioned so only charges in certain areas).Steo wrote: Sun Aug 02, 2020 5:46 pm I still find it hard to see anyway on an SP since they just use frontlit screens, unless you were lucky enough to get one of the very limited back near the end that actually used backlights, or you can put one of them in by yourself.

Re: Rayman 3
I only play stuff via emulators cause it allows me to use my keyboard.
I think Jungle Run and Fiesta Run were the first Rayman games I've played on the systems they were intended to be played on.
