even though it wasn't all that good, at least it was original. I really only enjoyed the video-game inspired episodes and shadow anyways.OldClassicGamer wrote:@Sonic
I must admit Chris was much better in season 3, but that leads to my next problem with Sonic X. I hated season 3.
I did not like the plot (ripping-off the Star Wars? Really?), I hated Metarex, I hated Cosmo, I hate Tails/Cosmo pairing way more than Sonic/Amy. Chris was my least hated Sonic X exclusive character in season 3. With such a bad ending (in my opinion), I am not surprised that season 4 was never made.
Say a new Rayman cartoon is being made.

Original? Season 3 was the biggest Star Wars Rip-Off.
The first 2 were mostly based of games so that was better.

How is it a Star Wars rip-off? The only similarity is that it's in space.OldClassicGamer wrote:Original? Season 3 was the biggest Star Wars Rip-Off.

It's closer to Star Trek, seeing as they are literally trekking through space, but even with that, the similarities end there.
With this logic, I guess Sonic Colours is also a Star Wars rip-off?
The only thing that's ever ripped off Star Wars within the Sonic franchise is the Death Egg, which is supposed to be an intentional parody of/homage to the Death Star. Much like how the 7 Chaos Emeralds and Super Sonic are a direct homage to the seven Dragonballs and Super Saiyans respectfully.
Re: Say a new Rayman cartoon is being made.
The idea of being in space is not the only thing that makes it Star Wars rip-off, and of course other games and movies that are in space do not rip-off Star Wars. Sonic Colors is not SW rip-off at all. But Sonic X Season 3 is because, the entire planet is destroyed, that the villain is actually a father of a main plot character (Sonic and others are main characters, but Cosmo was plot character if I can say it like that) just like Vader was Luke's father. Also, Cosmo has a petals that resemble Leia's hairstyle from Star Wars and Leia is Luke's sister - Vader's daughter, and Dark Oak is clearly Darth Vader rip-off. I dunno. The whole time I was watching third season, it just screamed Star Wars, but thats just me.

Re: Say a new Rayman cartoon is being made.
Those comparisons are way too obtuse to liken it to being a rip-off. Those are very distant similarities, and are inconsequential. For example, Cosmo is still a very different character to Leia, and honestly, I don't know why you think Princess Leia when you see Cosmo's design. If anything, I'd say she looks much more like Bolossum (sp?) from Pokémon, in terms of the "leaf/petal hair" idea.
Granted, I will not claim to be the biggest Stars Wars nerd, and to be quite honest, I am not really a fan of Star Wars (just never pulled me in, though I do like some things). But I know enough about Star Wars to know when something is ripping it off or parodying it, hence how I know about the Death Egg being a Death Star parody.
Though I think this is the wrong place to discuss this anyway.

Star Wars was not even close to being the first story to use plot points like planets being destroyed, or to have a father of a main character be a villain. Really, those are just inconsequential tropes you'll see everywhere. You have to think more about the finer details. The relationship between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker is completely different than the one between Dark Oak and Cosmo, even if both villains are fathers of the respective main characters. But Sonic X Season 3 is because, the entire planet is destroyed, that the villain is actually a father of a main plot character (Sonic and others are main characters, but Cosmo was plot character if I can say it like that) just like Vader was Luke's father.

Astronauts are in space, they must be ripping off Star WarsOldClassicGamer wrote:The idea of being in space is not the only thing that makes it Star Wars rip-off

Like I said being in space is not what it makes it SW rip-off.
Astronauts are of course not ripping of a SciFi franchise.

Remember kids, just because The Nostalgia Critic says it, doesn't mean it's competent.Keane wrote:Sat AM has a good set of characters, created this whole interesting world, made Eggman fucking awesome and put real work into really making it a presentable show. If I had been around during that period of time I'm pretty that despite not really being a Sonic fan I'd have loved that shit. Even if you don't like it, which is fine, there's still no denying that it tried millions times better. As in, they actually wrote things that they thought would make a good show rather then, well, let Mr. Critic sum up the bullshit of it's supposedly funny jokes:
You do know that he actually said in his commentary that he finds AoSTH entertaining, but he pretended to hate it because that's his character's thing, and to make SatAM look better, right?

Lolwut? He doesn't lie, these are all his real opinions, just obviously exaggerated to fit the comedic persona of the Nostalgia Critic. The commentary stated that he clearly thought the show was complete crap, but found it entertaining because of how ridiculous it was.TheTempurmental wrote:Remember kids, just because The Nostalgia Critic says it, doesn't mean it's competent.

That's the same reason most people (including me) like the show. But, it's the kind of so-bad-its-good show that's very innocent and lighthearted, so it's seems silly to me to get so furious over it. NC's reaction was staged, but it seemed to have made a lot of viewers of the review genuinely feel horribly offended by a dumb, cute little cartoon about Sonic.Adsolution wrote:Lolwut? *Applause* Yes. I'm a little late for this. but I wouldn't actually mind seeing characters from mixes of games. But the idea with Rayman 2 blew me away. I would pay so much money to see that.Adsolution wrote:I'd love to see a ~70-episode anime-esque series based off the story of Rayman 2. I think it would work excellently, as it would provide a chance to explore the game's interesting universe, expand upon some characters we only get to see very briefly, have amazing action scenes (just think of the fights against the Guardians), some surreal humour, beautiful artistry, and a grand journey, and that unmatched sense of mysticism conveyed through such scenes as the first encounter with Polokus.
Whooh, getting shivers here.

Really, if there's any show to get mad over, it sure as hell ain't AoStH.TheTempurmental wrote:That's the same reason most people (including me) like the show. And yeah, the NC said that he really did like the show, but he just played it up for the review.

Star Wars is just a rip-off of The Hidden Fortress anyway, so who cares?
Re: Say a new Rayman cartoon is being made.
True on that. Heck, Lucas even wanted Toshiro Mifune to play Obi-Wan in Star Wars but he rejected.

If there is a new Rayman cartoon, it has to be CG animated and make rayman super buff.
Re: Say a new Rayman cartoon is being made.
I would rather have it not in CGI.

It seems to me that was a not-so-subtle jab at the new Sonic cartoon, that we know little to none about.

We don't need a buff Rayman. What we need, is a buff Globox.Rayman fan2000 wrote:If there is a new Rayman cartoon, it has to be CG animated and make rayman super buff.
