Hm, this all looks a bit too confusing for me, but if I could I would change the Rayman skin to look like Tarayzan. Not sure what I'd do with the shoes, though.

I have a request.
I making 44kHz soundtrack for Rayman 2, and I'd like to ask for all loading screens from PC version for covers. All images converted to lossless format (PNG or BMP). Maybe someone would say me how to do it, where this images are, how to open them, whatever, or will be faster for someone to just unpack this. Thanks in advance.

If you just extract everything from Vignette.cnt (instead of Textures.cnt) following this tutorial, you'll get them in a nice TGA format. ;)

TGA, as i thought... I'll try. That's what I needed. Thanks.
edit
I got them. Only 640x480. I'm going to try to find out if PSX loading screens are larger.
edit
PSX's Technical Description says that it support resolution not bigger than 640x480. So PC screens enough.

Loading screens from PC's Rayman 2 version.
Better resolution than original via XnView and various filters.

I wouldn't go that far, most that can be done is upscaling of textures, we can't edit geometry yet, sadly.

However, a texture improvement drive sounds good, best of luck in realising it!

One of the things the community is asking (screaming) for is an improved sense of combat when encountering enemies. More enemies, more interesting combat, more difficult combat, things that actually have a pretty good chance at hurting you a lot - you know, challenge, basically. That'd be what I'd be looking for in a remake. And, I'd stress that if the atmosphere or feel of the levels is touched in even the remotest of ways, I'll lose my shits! :D
Nah, it'd be interesting to see where an art style change would take the game, though I don't encourage it in the slightest.

Some enemies are placed in zones where you could add several others without hurting the environment. The issue with Rayman 2 is that because it doesn't have a lot of enemies, it lacks interaction with your surroundings. Yes, I'm enjoying the music, the level design, etc, etc...but I don't feel enough immersion into the game sometimes.

I totally get that. If there were, for example, two more Henchmen fighting you in the Tomb of the Ancients when there's that one tossing Flaming Kegs at you, or maybe more Zombie Chicken, it'd be a much more challenging scene. These are things I'd address if I were making a Rayman game. Oh, wait. In fact, I am.

Contrastingly, the game can be surprisingly difficult when it wants to be, like when you can't see or hear exactly where the Zombie Chicken is coming from off-camera and suddenly hits you in the face and knocks you into the acid below.

I think this guy was thinking more of using extracted textures in a remake on a new engine, rather than injecting new textures into the old engine.

Hmm, seems reasonable. Using existing textures as a base.

As for improvements, I think inspiration could be taken from Revolution, it's combat is identical to Rayman 2, but they definitely upped the enemy attacks and numbers. Missile Henchman made it difficult to land charged hits, for instance, as you had to focus on destroying incoming homing missiles before they dealt damage.

I wish they'd made other missile models though. Those things... they look like the stuff a dev would throw in jokingly as a placeholder but then got forgotten to actually be replaced with something that looked good.

Those missiles... God damn annoying missiles...
I don't recount dieing by Henchman attacks in one of the other Rayman 2 versions,
but Revolution... Damn Revolution...

I've been drill-sniped AKA Henchman-telefragged once. That was surprising. I had full and max Energy, but that drill sure didn't care!

This discussion is pointless.
You're speaking about remake, then about enchance quality of old game, than about what devs should made on the beginning.
The only thing that I know is that DC textures which can be used in refreshing old PC version of R2 can't be used because (if I remember) they can't be converted again, only extracted.
Be more substantive in discussion and don't talk about imaginary dreams. <I meant you're making offtopic>

Why are you dictating what should and what shouldn't be talked here? This isn't your thread, nor you are a staff member.
