Spiders walk in? :confus:

Anyway yeah I heard people swallow nine spiders in their lifetime from somewhere. Not sure if it's a true statistic or not.

Did you mean by them standing up on two legs? XD

Exactly. I imagine they wouldn't use their legs at all actually, I assume they just drop in like burglars in an art museum.

I find the swallowing spider thing a little far-fetched. I do believe you may get bitten from several spiders when asleep, though.

It's probably one of those absurd averages. Like people from one country eat spiders because they're a speciality so they'd eat thousands. Whereas the rest of the world don't generally eat any at all.

I saw a clip on You've been framed! of a guy sleeping and a spider walking (yes WALKING) in his mouth and once there was this huge yellow one on my mum's duvet running around the place, and there are always spider's in the house at night. Evil little bandits...

No, that's not the reason. The statistic you're all talking about only count the spiders you swallow while you sleep. However, people who live in countries where there are lots of spiders would eat more spiders than people living in countries with less spiders.

They say that inside a house, a spider is always at least five feet away from wherever you are.

Probably true, at least in the summer.

I doubt it's the case for me, but who knows? I can't see how people can work this stuff out anyway.

A study like that would probably be relatively easy to do, but probably very time consuming.

Isn't that rats if you live in London?

I guess they'd have to ascertain the amount of spiders in one household (average) then divide the area up by the number of spiders(?) I can't do maths me, but this is how the experiment would be conducted. Still, who would have the fortitude to count the amount of spiders?

You would have to check inside the walls. That could be pretty tough.

That's bullshit urban legend. There are only a handfull of spider species in the world with venom potent enough to harm non-allergic humans, and the so-called "cellar spider" is not among them. the cellar spider is not even a real spider specie, but rather a collective term for a large number of arachnids living in basements and cellars around the world.
Yeah, Mythbusters even proved that it was wrong.
It's funny, one of the world's most dangerous spiders (to humans) is the Sydney Funnel Web Spider (which I happen to live near). But humans are actually amongst the only animals that can actually be harmed by it. Dogs, cats etc are unaffected, and chickens can eat them.
They can't move quickly either.
Not true, I've seen spiders move very quickly indeed. The other stuff you said in that post I agree with though. Huntsman Spiders scare the shit out of most people, but they're pretty harmless. They rarely bite, and they couldn't possibly kill you.
I find the swallowing spider thing a little far-fetched. I do believe you may get bitten from several spiders when asleep, though.
Spiders will only bite you if they're provoked. I'd say it's far more likely they'd unwillingly crawl into you're mouth than bite you for no reason. I pick up spiders and they don't even bite me then.
They say that inside a house, a spider is always at least five feet away from wherever you are.
Most likely. Some spiders are tiny little things. They could be behind bookshelves, in tiny cracks, etc.

That means that it is impossible to be within five feet of a spider while you are inside a house.

There are also spiders inside the roof and walls.

?

I have no idea what you meant by that, but I think you missed my point.

Read Shawn's post carefully; he seems to be saying the opposite of what he means.

Eh, never mind...

Spiders are jerks who think its ok to move in the window sill when I'm trying to shower, and then he drops by to say HI. :pascontent:
