how big a GB hard drive can you have on a W98Se before it doesn't recognize it?
I think that the maximum size of a partition in Windows 98 is 128 GB.

But you shouldn't be using Windows 98 :P
Nothing wrong with it as long as he doesn't use it for today's needs.

Though I know a well respected member at another forum who still used windows 98 up until not long ago, when he got a machine that runs XP.

Actually, want to know what's hilarious? I happen to see a question on Yahoo question thingy, when I was looking up Direct X 11 graphics cards... and I seen someone ask on Yahoo "When is Direct X 11 coming to Windows 98". :tssk:

I'm talking about R1, RC, RG, RD, R By his fans. Games that aren't covered by DOS-box!

Rayman 1 Dos Box setup has already been released for a long time now and works successfully.

Of course you can set them up in DOSBox! You just have to know how.

You just have to make a config file and change the AUTOEXEC section to tell it to start your Rayman game, then set up a shortcut to start DOSBox with that config file. To learn how to do these, type help at the DOSBox prompt and press enter.

Thanks, I'll try that. I really prefer a W98SE because it doesn't have the little sounds that DOS-box has.

Another way I tried running real dos was under Windows 3.11, windows 95, and windows 98 on Virtual Machine. I tried it on my AMD setup a while back, the games sorta lagged... (Though I ran Descent)... not sure if it was the computer or specific virtual machine. I ran Microsoft's Virtual machine... now I wonder if there are any better which take better advantage of the graphics power. :|

Either VirtualBox or VMware should be better than Virtual PC for running these old 3.x and 9x Windows versions.

That shouldn't really matter for DOS games, since they only use 2D acceleration ( which is peanuts to emulate on a modern PC ).
What kind of AMD CPU was it ? An old Socket A one ? Because Socket A CPU's are quite slow for PC emulation.
