Don't worry, most rumours point to the series starting at late August.

Oh, no, I thank you for doing so. Else I would've spent the rest of my day with the thought of a new episode in the back of my head. That would've been a major letdown.

Anyone seen the Pond Life mini-series?

Asylum of the Daleks was great! It was a bit of a weird episode, but Moffat's ones usually are. It was quite exciting and a bit more scary than I'm used to from Dr. Who. I liked it a lot!

It was indeed great, I think the scariness was intentional, as the showrunners wanted the Daleks to return to their menacing form rather than the reliably defeatable form that they have gained over the years.

I saw an episode of the new Dr. Who last night. It was alright but the acting seemed a bit corny at times.

Alright, it's speculating time! I've hidden the next paragraphs of my post in spoiler tags, because I will discuss events and scenes that you may still want to watch. I will be using events established in the newest episode, Asylum of the Daleks, but I'll regard things learned from previous episodes in the series. Beware!

So, the Daleks forgetting all about the Doctor has serious implications. If they forgot him, they forgot how the Time War ended, and since you can't just forget how a war ends, they may have even forgotten all about the Time War. But if that's the case, then will they have remembered their hatred towards the Time Lords, or whether the Time Lords still exist or not? Will they then have any memory of Skaro, burned and lost in battle? What does this make of the species as a whole? Are they still driven by revenge and torn by anger and hatred, or do they begin anew? Quite probably, most of what I mentioned will just be retconned, but there are interesting scenarios to consider.

Also, while I'm speculating, do you remember the episode in which the Tenth Doctor, David Tennant, had a clone made, who then turned out to be a fully-fledged Time Lady (Jenny's the name), unbeknownst to him, sadly? She flew off at the end of that episode, to travel the stars and do the things a Time Lord does - but don't you think we should hear of her again? Isn't it at least signifficant that the Time Lords are no longer all-but-one extinct, but now have two members in their species? In fact, Professor River song is also a Time Lady, but she used up all her regenerations. However, that doesn't take away the Time Lady in her, or does it? I guess she's not a completely valid example, as she's been presented as a 'half human, half Time-Child' creature. These possibilities intrigue me, and I do hope that they will be considered (or, seeing as the episodes have already been filmed, 'have been considered') by the writing staff - I'd love to see episodes that come back to these old stories.

Let's find out what the new season brings!

I think I liked Dinosaurs On a Spaceship much more than Asylum Of The Daleks, I love the Daleks, but Asylum just...felt like something was missing, maybe it felt too much movie-like and less Who-like...
Also, a little note, the last scene with the postcard of "Siluria" has the 2005-2010 TARDIS design instead of the current, 2010 St. Johns design.

I liked the last episode, but I think Asylum was a bit better. The Solomon character was great in this, but other than that, things were a bit ridiculous. I loved it through and through, and I laughed at the robots quite a bit, but you have to admit it was a bit... weird.

I agree to that, I hope this "film-style" is only temporary, it's a nice concept, but...it just doesn't feel very fulfilling when you've just got 45 mins to give it in.

I'm not sure - I like the way they're filming the episodes. They've got quite a lot of 'colour' to them (and I mean that in the non-visual sense of the word) and the acting is better than before. Little, subtle things I noticed were things like getting people to ask the main characters questions, so they would have to explain themselves to the viewers. Also, what the Doctor usually does (thinking out loud) is a good way to achieve this. They're also trying out some new humour, but they need some good ideas for episodes. The problem is that they've almost done everything they can already; all the characters have died, been resurrected, erased from time, redrawn into time, led to believe to have been dead, broken up, got back together, have saved the Universe and all other Universes and have been fighting the Silence in a number of ways. I think I'd like to see more of the Silence, and more of non-Earthbound episodes. I feel like almost all of Smith's episodes take place on Earth, whereas previous Doctors frequented other planets. The TARDIS flies in time and space, not just time.

Props to Amy though, she's been in the role of main companion for the longest of all the new series companions, it will be a shame when she goes, but I think it's time to move on, new characters are needed, things are indeed getting a bit overdone.
It's a shame Elizabeth Sladen has passed, I do miss the Sarah Jane Adventures, it may have been for younger 'uns, but it still kept the spirit of Doctor Who.
I can't say I like the new opening credits, the changing logo feels to gimmicky for my tastes.

You're right - I hadn't realised she's been in for so long. I do wonder what type of person will be the Doctor's next companion; this crew had/has a fun interaction. I hadn't heard about Elizabeth. What a tragedy. I always liked her reappearing in episodes now and then. You're right about the opening; it's so high on bloom levels that it looks a bit weird. I'll get used to it, but I can't say it's an improvement. I still think 'Tennant' 's Time Vortex looks the best up till now.
