Yeah, those Rayman 2 platforms/versions might be actually confusing - at least we have recently merged all "console" runs in Rayman 2 The Great Escape (while PS1 and Revolution are still considered different games). :D

I'm actually quite curious as to what exactly causes that.

It's a different sound effect too, as if it were loaded in addition to the regular one.

Sounds like the "hey" from some of the dialogues, not sure if it's linked to that new skip or completely unrelated.

DarnokPL wrote: Thu Oct 07, 2021 4:03 pm So F8 with it is slowdown ability is useful for run - in Canopy it makes the pole skip easier (as you need to shoot a pole which is far away - and F8 lengthens range of your bullets), and it also help to pass the final gate without bush (as in slowmotion your movement can be way more precise).
Slowing down the bullets increases their range? This must be because a lot of the game's mechanics are based on time... 🤯
I'm guessing it has to do with predictive collision detection altering the length of the collision ray(?) depending on framerate to prevent physics clipping (the length of the ray would be the radius of the shot + velocity divided by the framerate). Rayman 2 seems to have this one-frame delay between collisions and the object's actual reaction to collisions, making this easy to exploit.

Great job Darnok! That sliding section is really technical, and it's impressive how close you are to falling into the void each time. As for 100%, getting all the Lums in one go is something I'm pretty sure I've never succeeded in doing. And I'm not only talking about that infamous last bit where you have to circle around the exit.

Yeah, I remember my practice sessions for my 100% runs - and I think that Prison Ship itself took about half of the time spend for entire practice. But it is nice to see this "impossible level" available in one go (I still remember great runners - like KirbyComment or Manocheese - trying to get all the lums in Prison Ship with the use of backwards jumps (the same like at Axel skip) - as it looked to be simply impossible to get all lums in one go). :D Actually I believe on 30 fps it would be impossible.

Also, this level itself is a major reason for people being scared of 100% attempts (me too - mainly due to this "infamous circle" that you've mentioned - I've never failed missed any lum there yet - but it is very easy to imagine a stupid mistake). :P

Which part had you restart the most? I suppose you'd go for safer strats in a full 100% run.

Heh, in 100% speedruns I don't really reset that much - as those runs are already too long to make them multiple times. Also it is hard to say, what major timelosses are - probably Prison Ship actually, but there are many places/tricks which can just randomly go wrong - in entire run.

Actually today 100% contains probably more glitches/tricks than Any% - Any% is hard up to early Echoing Caves, and then it is easy. ;)

Is 100% glitchless even a thing? That would be even longer, though...

Well, 100% Glitchless would be probably too long... And some levels - like for instance Stone & Fire - are quite uncomfortable to play without any glitches.
It is the same issue as in other games probably - limiting the categories to Any%, Any% Glitchless (or similar) and regular 100% (with glitchless) - sometimes 100% might be split into "basic glitches" and "ultraglitched". In Rayman 2 such "ultraglitched" might for instance involve lum dupplication - if it was possible - I still hope for such glitch to happen!
