Are you sure it was the same copy?

Good point. Did you buy two of them?

Yeah, it had my old save file.

How is that strange? He never said it wasn't the same copy.

I think it's strange that he lost it, and he found it in the boxes.

I might have accidentally dropped in it there when I was looking for something else. Other than that, I have no idea.

Perhaps we should talk about something interesting instead.
In Hoodlums' Revenge, Globox actually transforms into a clone of Reflux, with a remnant of André's mind controlling him. Which makes Globox the final boss of the game. Most people don't seem to notice the actual tranformation, as it doesn't occur on-screen, but it is most definitely what happened.

Oh really? In my experience, André leaves Globox and possesses / creates / whatever a Reflux clone. Then he leaves the Reflux clone.
But, perhaps you're right. If I remember correctly, André is shown leaving Globox after you've defeated Reflux. Yeah, you can be very well correct...

Hmm, I need to get this game again... I certainly don't remember being aware that Globox transformed into Reflux...

It's strange that it's never explicitly shown, but I'm certain that it's what happened. If anyone requires further persuasion...
In retrospect, they practically spell it out for us. Although I admit that it took me two playthroughs to realise what was going on.

That certainly is strange. No, not what you think. I'm almost sure that my version of Hoodlum's Revenge doesn't show those bars with text Or maybe it does, but not with those heads, or parchment (spelling?) like bars...I'll check it though. Sometime.

Whoa. I've played through this game three times and I've never gotten those messages. The fight just starts automatically with no dialogue. Why must I always get faulty copies of handheld games?

Well, seems that I'm not the only one...What version do you have? I THINK I have the European version, seeing as I live in the Netherlands, and the basic European languages are selectable (English, German, French, Dutch, and perhaps Italian and Spanish too).

I can only choose between English, Spanish, and French, so obviously I have the North American version. Maybe it isn't a localization difference. Maybe some of them have the cutscene while others don't, kinda like Moonwalker on the Genesis and how only some copies have Thriller.

Maybe the version in the playthrough that spiraldoor watched was some sort of limited edition. I wonder how Rayman knew it was Globox.

I wasn't watching a playthrough, I was playing it on VBA. Like all my games, it is the European version. The full ROM-name is:
1934 - Rayman - Hoodlums' Revenge (E) (M6)
The standard European version as far as I can tell. And I doubt that the logicalities of how Rayman knew it was Globox were considered by the developers.

I'm not certain, but I think the cutscene only plays the first time you play through the game. Could it be that you played through the game, saw the cutscene and forgot about it, then replayed it twice without the cutscene playing?

My version does, if your version doesn't it would be strange since mine is Dutch as well. Maybe it just seems different because the text is in English instead of Dutch.

Possibly, since back then I didn't pay as much attention to storylines in games as I do now...but I would think I'd remember that Reflux icon.
